What annoys me about Dems is that they constantly feel the need to pander to Republicans and moderates. And I think that's what Kamala tried to do in the end (e.g., campaigning with Liz Cheney), where notably she didn't have the same enthusiasm as when she first started campaigning (e.g., picking a pretty progressive VP like Walz). 

Trump literally became more extreme and not only won the Electoral College, but the popular vote for the first time. Dems need to fight back hard instead of cowering and constantly placating Republicans.

What a contrast to Trump's unhinged meltdowns after losing the 2020 election, she has never seemed more like a leader than right here.

I have become so jaded to crushing disappointments that they hardly even affect me anymore but this one was a bitter pill to swallow and we come to find out that the republicans have not only taken control of the senate and presidency, but retained the house and won the popular vote to top it all off. Don't forget that they have a conservative supreme court as well.

The election was an utter catastrophe and if our democracy even exists in four years, the democrat party needs to revaluate itself because we have been led to disaster by the establishment party for too long.

Was it because she was woman? ( Cause even the popular vote was  lost). Some of you seem to think that a man like Sanders, a man like Waltz , a Man, etc... Would have a chance. Is it a question of being louder,  rude , ill mannered, aggressive, etc?  What functions image wise in America?

I'm sorry but your question is exactly why the Democrats lost. We have seen with this election that there were many women and Latinos voting Trump as well. Democrats need to stop the identity politics, it's not helping in 2024. The game has changed.

Biden won 2020 because a lot of people held their nose and wanted Trump out. We didn't have that this time and people's memory of Trump's presidency has faded. Trump also connected well with young men in a way and on a level a lot of Republicans have been unable to for the past few decades.  Trump royally screwed up the handling of COVID in 2020 and that also upset a lot of people. Biden would not have won against Trump yesterday, even in a super hypothetical 2020 Biden vs. 2024 Trump.

Harris being a woman helped and hurt. It probably heavily influenced female voting and energy throughout the campaign. She didn't have many "big" issues, just several smaller ones that eroded her chances. She is a woman and that turned away some people and gave her some. She is a POC which does the same for race. But she wasn't seen throughout the Biden presidency up until he stepped aside, and that prevented her from forging her own identity over the past few years. She wasn't able to distance herself enough from Biden, and that is arguably her biggest downfall. Her assuming the top of the ticket for the race after the convention also caused some people to turn away as they saw it as undemocratic. Her chances at North Carolina died during Hurricane Helene, due to misinformation on how disaster relief funds were handled by the Biden administration.  She took the Latino vote for granted and somehow majority of Latino men voted Trump. She took the Gen Z vote for granted and majority of Gen Z men voted Trump. 

Harris ran a strong campaign, especially for the short turnaround she had. But she refused to sh*t on Biden which hurt her in the end and she was unable to create her own identity.

Biden was the product of a zeitgeist. Harris didn't have an issue with rhetoric, it was an issue of time. She did not have enough identity outside of the Biden Administration. Harris and her campaign mocked what Trump is now, but failed to remind the American public what exactly happened from 2017-2021. She should have reminded people how many people were lost to COVID, the prolonged period we were all exposed to that, linked it to the economy that Biden took over. She should have mentioned how she helped on those fronts. "Trump's inaction in 2020 caused xx million lives to be unnecessarily lost. That's more than we ever lost to war or x or y or z. We lost this much in GDP directly from those lives, and x amount of jobs. Joe and I have been on the road recovering this many jobs by doing x. Trump discriminated against people by passing x law. And now he wants to pass y law. Joe and I did this, but I feel like we need to do y to really right that path and make sure z doesn't happen". She might have done that, but I never saw it on my socials so it never happened.

Democrats lost because they take identities for granted, not for running on identity politics. If it didn't work period then we wouldn't see the statistics we do and it would all mesh evenly overall. But young white men were for Trump and many women and black voters were for Harris.

I'm only asking what functions image wise, public speech etc, with Americans. For instance in my country a politician speaking the way trump speaks publicly wouldn't work. I'm just imagining an candidate in my country saying about is opponent she has a very low IQ, for example lol.

I don't think Biden would have won, he was unfortunately to weakened physically and mentally, cause of his age. I don't know why democrats went with him, probably some sort of study, made them think he would work better with people. Kamala was right there, why not go with her from the begin?  Did they thought that she wouldn't work with voters, against trump?

Anyways I forgot that Hillary lost to trump too. 

Now, when all is said and done, I'm wondering if Kamala being a woman contribute to this ecatomb.

Just makes  sad that a misogynistic p*g like trump manages to win over not one, but two women, I know that politics are  in the middle of it, but still... as a woman, i'm not even american lol, it made feel a little inferior, powerless, somehow, I don't even know how to explain it, cause it's was a weird thing that went through my mind, while watching Kamala addressing the US.
