Well I guess it's not a disaster in the eyes of most Americans.

I hope it won't be. Good luck everyone, stay positive.

CA still has 50% left to count, Trump could lose the popular vote technically.

It is also looking like Republicans won the house and the Senate so the next four years will certainly be a traumatic experience for the left :saladga:

Two years, we have an opportunity at the midterms.

Is there ANY way this can still be turned around?

Democrats can ask for recounts in several states, which could change outcomes. The possibility of that isn't high, but you wanted any way things could turn around. WI, MI, and GA would probably be target states for that.

Democrats can mount other legal challenges (also not likely, they'll probably save face and concede). Alleging people voted multiple times, certain votes weren't counted, etc.

The electoral college votes for Harris. This is the least likely scenario because the state GOP will choose party loyalists to represent them, so we probably won't see many if any unfaithful electors.

I've been saying that Gen Z are the new boomers and noone listens. They only differ from their conservative right-wing counterparts by pretending they care about important causes. Performative activism for clout, rather than our elders just outright spewing hatred. Which arguably is worse. I'm beyond disappointed in the youth vote

In my eyes, though, we can’t even blame solely them for this. We’ve gotta remember that these young people have been inundated with this Republican propaganda since they were young teenagers. Some of these first time voters have been getting this kind of propaganda since they were 14 years old, and no one has been there to stop it.

Democrats pay a lot of lip service to Gen Z but it’s evident they don’t do much to actually reach out to them. They’ve allowed Republicans to have full access and control of them without any resistance.

Young people don’t naturally swing this far to the right. They have been indoctrinated and the Democrats have allowed it to happen by not paying attention to it and by allowing the Republican propaganda machine to go completely unchallenged. Nobody has been watching these kids. Nobody has been there to try and lead them away from this.

Probably but imo it’s the SocMed. There were insurmountable amount of demolition jobs against Democratic platforms, women,  LGBTQ+, and immigrants.

To the point that even some of these women and immigrants voted for Trump  :traumatica:

Can’t sleep at all. Here’s what I think about 2028:

Pete is doing homework right now to devise what he thinks will be the perfect platform to run on in 28. He will be the emptiest vessel to run.

Gavin is giggling in California. He’s gonna go ham on the homeless and petty thieves to clean up LA and SF. His goal will be to run on “hey, i cleaned up the uncleanable.” (His aggressive tactics will cause issues later on for a new governor).

Big Gretch is tired of the bullshit and she’ll be easily pushed into running to “show these b*tches how it’s done.” She has no real angle other than “ I can win Michigan 😉

Kamala will become a vocal critic of the Trump administration and before you know it she’s holding a rally in Los Angeles (to offset Gavin’s in the Bay) announcing her intention to run. She will embrace more left leaning policies but will be haunted by the Biden stink.

Well, this is democracy, we might not agree with what the majority chooses. The winner isn't one who is right, but one with whom a majority of people agrees.

At least according to how elections and electoral college system works in the US.

Let's stay positive, we lost a battle, but not forever

Yes it's democracy, and the people have spoken. But there's a problem : the people they have voted for this time are walking away from democracy. They tried to steal the 2020 election when they lost, and they would have tried to steal this one too if they'd lost. Now they are going to have their hands on so many levers of power .... they will seek to rig future elections so that they can't lose. I can't give chapter and verse on what they will do and whether they will succeed, but they absolutely will try to do that. It would make no sense for them not to try to do that.

I agree but also you cannot control, or challenge kids, or police what they are being influenced by in the age of the internet. A huge influencing factor is scum like Joe Rogan and the likes. All these disgusting podcasters and alpha-bro groups that preach sexism, homphobia, superiority etc etc. We're so ****ed

I just still don't see how these people can be so dumb. People really just get mad, throw blame, and make a totally thoughtless decision. The same thing happened in our country's last election. People are too ****ign stupid to be voting. They don't even do any research just listen to either a speech by a candidate or just blindly follow the people around them in their social circles. People are so STUPID

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

It's hard to accept the winner when they bash democracy and says they're gonna fight to stay in power with anti-democratic words and actions.

You can’t completely, but the Dems didn’t even try to reach out this time. They took the youth vote as a given, meanwhile social media has seen an insane, unchallenged rise in right wing propaganda and it’s obviously had a major impact on young voters.

no, there was no way to save every single one of them. But I do genuinely believe we would have gotten a lot more of the young Gen Z vote had been a concentrated effort to reach out to these young people and try to show them that they’re being taken advantage of and try to deconstruct this false worldview that has been created for them.

Like I don’t want to absolve them of all responsibility because they carry their fair share, but at the same time I feel like we failed these kids. We didn’t lead them to this, but we sure as hell didn’t lead them away either.

The most disheartening aspect is that the MAGA movement has won and is here to stay. It is now entrenched in our society.

This is definitely a inditement on the Democratic Party rather than on Kamala. All of the Progressive social issues were used as a cudgel against  susceptible Americans. The most common commercial I see in Texas is about schools transitioning little kids. There is no truth to it , and democrats aren’t running on that, but the lying persists.

Some type of new movement needs to happen for liberals. Not sure what that is. But the status quo of trying to rebuild the Obama years is not working

They probably saw Musk’s tweet about Trump’s staged acting where his ear was bleeding and thought “God has chosen him/He’s the chosen one” :littlepotter:

I agree. The downside of internet is that gullible people were easy prey for the likes of Elon/Trump.

I think Kamala's campaign dropped the ball big time by not accepting Joe Rogan's invite to appear on his show. I think Kamala and Tim Walz could have both made appearances. I would have even really loved to see someone like Mayor Pete show up for the campaign..  That would have been the exact audience/demographic that they should have been targeting imo

Trump, Vance and Musk all appeared on the show in the last week and a half and they all had 3 hour long interviews.. crazy

I don't know if those Gen Z'ers that vote for Trump even care about performative activism. I do think that the big problem is that the "woke" aka progressive mindset, the influx of womens rights and the very poor economy around the world, in which the role of a man is being able to provide for wife and family, totally stripped the man of any necessary role in todays society. So in order to find some sort of purpose, they join right-winged groups, they spew hatred against the women, whos attention they desperately crave, they reject anything that isn't masculine and they think that holding themselves to values from the 70s eventually makes them come true. The economy getting even worse, women and minorities having even more of a voice nowadays does not fit their mindset.
