juicyjuicy 1,659
Honestly, I’m not surprised. Is anyone? The untimely teasing, messy rollouts of her new music this year, negative Joker press, and lack of promo have surmounted to this. Disease as a song has been quite divisive - you either love it or hate it - so in my opinion, this is actually pretty good, all things considered. 27 is not bad, but not great (for Gaga’s standards). Personally, I really like the song and am trying not to care about the charts too. But for all those saying “music not the bling”…let’s be real, she is a pop star and recording artist signed to one of the biggest music record labels in the world at the end of the day. Whilst many in the industry still applaud her for her legacy, artistry and talent (as do I), unfortunately to some (and definitely her label), her success will still be held to a fair extent to how well she performs commercially and her pop music career’s longevity may depend on that. You want to hear her new music on the radio? You best hope that she charts. Is Disease her best song? No. Far from it. It sounds ‘watered down’ for the GP - it wants to be rock, but not quite, it wants to be industrial techno, but not quite, it wants to be pop, but it’s unlike anything on the radio/top 40 at the moment. But I love that. It’s new. It’s fresh. It’s daring. Like Lady Gaga has always been. It makes me excited for what’s to come (LG7). Also, huge applause for the MV as it is a great showcase of her artistry and creative intent and talent. I will always be rooting for her. Talent won. Stupid Love was like in the top 10 if I'm not mistaken but it remains her worst lead by a mile. Just enjoy the music, guys. Disease is an amazing song. We've been wanting that crazy dark anthemic Gaga DNA in a song for so long, we finally have it and that's all that matters. thiiiiiiis lets start focus on music. i know its great that more ppl love the music u love, but its not always possible lets support our queen as long as we can and celebrate the dark era kindest regards
crybrowz 3,174
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit disheartened by the underperformance. I really love the song and video. Its chart performance obviously doesn't change that at all, I just wish Gaga could be rewarded for what I consider to be her best creative output in a decade. I really love the direction she seems to be going in for LG7, it's what I've been wanting from her for years. I just hope the lukewarm reception doesn't alter her direction. I'm also not totally giving up on this song, it was definitely a grower for many of us so it could still rise if her team plays their cards right. 3

She’s doing this strictly for the hardcore fans, and if we keep focusing on the chart positions we’re gonna lose sight of where she’s taking us with her art. she is able to chart high with the right music disease is a fan fave not a GP smash DWAS is doing well

Gaga is the #3 on Spotify, one of the biggest names in the world, and her first lead single in almost 5 years cant even manage to debut in the top 10. And don’t start the “oh but the song is not GP friendly”. Judas and BM arent either. And even SL and PI debuted higher. I hope Gagas team has a plan, because why was there no promo? No physicals? No performances? And the fact DWAS didnt go #1 even with the Taylor Swift strategy of variants is embarrassing… This is exactly what I was saying on another thread but everybody dragged me for it......
crazygato 417
I’m really starting to like the song but was not impressed with the video, which doesn’t matter much anyway. I expected a top 15 debut tbh. I also don’t see many people enjoying this song, except for the fans. It’s an earworm for sure, but don’t see it being popular outside of the internet. I fear that she will only get hits off ballads or features, which I dread! Definitely think it will rise, at least top 20! It’s just a warm up for better things because it does sound promising! 1
Didymus 34,379
Another thread of people who "don't care about the charts" finding a trillion excuses for her chart performance People aren't that interested in actively playing new music from her, it's ok. 2
ALGAYDO 29,936
I’m a bit disappointed BUT ultimately, the song and video are outstanding so the charts are just extra fluff. Plus she has a current no.1 smash hit (globally) so who cares if this one doesn’t smash as well. At least we got her being DarkGa again, and that’s all I ever wanted from her. The music video was released during its first week and TTH is not doing anything (let's wait for yesterday's numbers, tho). If it does, will be because of radio but it might only help it to be stable, I don't see it getting higher on its second week... It's very weird, they are not even mentioning physicals. I wonder if they ever consider to make them in the first place... Intersflop is doing nothing.
babababylon 124
I have literally listened to Disease more times than any Gaga song since maybe Diamond Heart when it came out soooo this doesn’t really matter to me x 2 1
