It shocks me that 30 million people were willing to spend $50-$80 on a bottle of perfume that will eventually run out of fragrance, while only a little over 2 million people were willing to spend around $12-$15 on Born This Way. I'll believe what Gaga tweets before anyone coming into this thread to try to undermine her achievement. The figures also seem consistent with the size of the fragrance industry, the relative ranking of perfume sales over the Christmas period, and the reported 6 million bottles sold the first week. It must have sold really well here in Germany because I remember there being a lot of ads and publicity on the perfume, even in the university where I study there were people handing out bags with small samples of Fame and flyers.
