GreenEyes 644
I saw someone say it’s her singing to us. Because we have been asking so long for her to return to this sound/theme and she is curing our disease. She knows how bad we have wanted this and she quite literally is curing us. It’s probably not true at all but it is a cool way to listen to the song. She’s definitely singing about a lot of things, fame her lover and to her older self.
chromattica 336
33 minutes ago, Stefanotta said: Disease is a journey to The Cure, like a new creative direction with inverted lyrics, exactly like the whole LG7 will be a retrospective into her whole carrer. Imo This is a very interesting thought. I immediately thought of The Cure the first time I heard this song too. I remember her saying at the time that The Cure was written for her friend Sonja who had terminal cancer. This makes even more sense if Disease is a journey to The Cure. My mum recently passed away from cancer and these lyrics speak something very deep into my soul about that whole experience, and can't help but feel there is some connection between the two songs as well. I suppose we will find out more when she decides to do some interviews and speaks about the meanings behind the new material.

Killa 15,534
Ive commented this a few times, these lyrics, i have no idea what this Song Is about I dont see the sex at all honestly, from the get go. Since She sounds very Monster like, It seems like its a supernatural voice or being. I interpret this, though It May be cringe but as the monster within. Highly personal but It feels like this play doctor, says this other Person needs actual medicine and can't take no more, suffers from insomnia. So the help here Is tò be possessed to Survived, be It by Gaga or and actual Monster living inside her The other thing leasing me Is the poison being on the inside and being a winner. Plus the Memories. Like....Someone has been nasty here
Killa 15,534
I Also thought immediately about the cure, like Imagine many of us. But ive never thought too much about those lyrics ahah. Wonder of theres AN actual paralelism. I liked the common themes you found. This lonely God without a prayer, really Is a particular line. Maybe the Person asking tò be rescued Isnt the fragile Person in thinking but quite the opposite.
Shadow 6,354
When listening to the Cure, it does seem to have nurturing, supportive qualities to it that would be a wholesome song for close friends dealing with a serious illness. While Disease has similar themes, the song appears to be an analogy for a relationship. Are we dealing with love or power dynamics? Jon Bon Jovi had a song with similar themes, lyrically, called Bad Medicine. If need for sex/love is the disease, then sex/love itself is the cure, especially with endorphins released. Edit: Although the Cure may be a nurturing song, it can also be understood as sexual. Red 94,523
I feel like lyrically it’s closer to Bad Romance than The Cure, both speak about being willing to love the other person despite their baggage, but Bad Romance is about accepting their loved one’s darkness as it is while Disease talks about helping your loved one overcome this darkness and heal rather than just accepting it. Hennycomb 3,105
Maybe it's the same character from Bad Romance, she wanted his disease, now she wants to cure it
Shadow 6,354
1 hour ago, Auther said: She is singing to herself. I've been wondering if she is talking about herself. Look at the visuals. A woman is being chased by a driver in the clip we saw. And in the track art, the driver appears to have hit and killed the woman. What "disease" was cured there? What if the cure is Gaga killing the disease, the darkness within her? 🖤“Thoughts are the shadows of our feelings -- always darker, emptier and simpler.” ― Friedrich Nietzsche
Red 94,523
There is also the fact that The Cure is most likely about Sonja and helping her with a literal disease while Disease is metaphorical. Raivo 136
1 hour ago, holy scheisse said: Codependent behavior I was also getting this. The lyrics remind me of my past relationship, where there was almost an addiction from one person to lift up/fix/heal the other one. Also, low key, I feel like the lyrics are a bit simple on this one. I listened to Judas, Pokerface G.U.Y. and few other songs by Gaga, and I felt there was more depth there. But the music really saves the song. The production is insane.
