Ooh those all sound great for her! I’d also love to see her in a psychological horror film like Us or Rosemary’s Baby.

Oh she would SLAY in one of those. I thought of Black Swan too.

The reason I didn't list it is because I'm a weak baby and still traumatised from AHS Hotel & Roanoke :messga:

It's amazing how I can get through her horror stuff but not for any other artist. She's just THAT good.

I personally hope she goes for something low budget, less Oscar inspired

YES! give us independent, european, arthouse, $100k budget and a dream. There is too much gloss in her film projects

Availability is not weakness

I feel like she’d thrive with Denis Villeneuve or Guillermo del toro. Also we need a film where her storyline isn’t based upon her male love interest.

I’d maybe like to see her do something like being a detective in a mystery film. Something that wouldn’t require her to fully become a completely different character / enter a dark state of mind like with HOG and FAD, maybe something more intellectual and modern. Something that the media / critics / fans wouldn’t expect.

EDIT: oh I would love for her to do something more indie / slice of life

I don't get those of you saying that you want her to step away from Oscar bait films. She only does a movie once every 3 years and she won't be in her prime forever. She should only be focusing on films that are worth her while, i.e. serious films by big name directors with notable budgets and marketing that require first rate acting that will garner awards nominations and wins. And it's so iconic that every major role she's done so far has been in movies with starry casts that have all garnered her acting praise and resulted in awards nominations. Literally no other singer can say that. If Gaga's going to take time out of her singing career to do this, she'd better only focus on movies that will have impact.

I'm all for her stopping the singing roles because she's either been told that she's basically playing herself (ASIB) or her singing didn't bring anything to the story (JFAD). The true way that she can be taken seriously as an actress is to do a role that doesn't require her to sing at all, not even submitting an original song to the soundtrack. That's exactly what she did with HoG but the downside was, she was playing a villain (no sympathy from voters) and one that is very exuberant, campy and required a foreign accent. If she could land a role in an emotional drama where she plays a put-upon woman going through struggle, she could have that Oscar in the bag (along with all the other big ones). She'll have really earned respect and dues by that point as well. An original work is the ideal vehicle now, seeing as every role has been a different kind of movie but original ones are a huge risk. Thankfully, they're ones for whom most actors win an Oscar for.

This is how I realise her first three leading role films are a remake, based on a true story and a sequel :saladga:

Here's what I'm manifesting:

- a original rom-com or rom-drama, like Moonstruck
- a psychological drama, like The Hours
- a classical-inspired but ORIGINAL musical, like La La Land
- an indie, slice of life movie about family, like CODA

:iamfair:

Yes, yes and yes again! Unlike a lot of people here, I don't want to see her do horror as I hate gore and most horror films don't make much money and aren't respected by awards ceremonies and low budget indie dramas perform poorly at the box office and go largely unnoticed regardless of who's in them. "Slice of life movie about family" is what award voters always love. Maybe that's why Gaga struggles to win - none of her roles elict that much sympathy - a nobody who rises up to be a big star, a gold-digging wife from hell and a psychotic fangirl. It's pretty sad that women can really only win awards when they're playing weary, put-upon women, huh?

Just A Holy Fool

She is well suited to genre pieces, so the Quentin Tarantino rumours actually make a lot of sense. A killer supporting role in an ensemble such as he makes would be great, and pretty much every single one of his films has been in the Oscar conversation.

I’d love to see her in the upcoming Death Stranding A24 movie. Especially since some of her previous collaborators are in or have worked in the IP like Norman Reedus and Woodkid.

Robo Ga

I would love to see her work with a female director like Greta Gerwig! I think she would thrive off of that energy and collaboration

I'd love to see her in a simpler, less blockbuster-y project, maybe a drama with someone like Kogonada or other directors like him who aren't really directing huge productions but have a very well-regarded career in the more independent, arthouse field of dramas. I'd also love to see her work with Robert Eggers in a more serious horror movie, part because I think she suits horror projects really well and part because I'm a horror fan myself. I'd also love to see her in a truly weird and unhinged genre project like The Substance or Ari Aster's stuff, but right now I think the very next movie she does should be something a little safer. But first and foremost I'd like for her to make her decision for the next role based on the director's (recent) track record and on a very careful reading of the script, as opposed to choosing based off of the character and the general nature and reputation of the project, which is what I feel like she was doing for the past three movies. And she should also go for a script where she's really the unmistakable lead of the story.

And imo she should avoid musical projects for the time being, so she can solidify her reputation as a dramatic actress. She can come back to them about 10 years from now, once somebody manages to finally get that Sunset Boulevard film adaptation going :sis:

4th Time Around

These high budget block busters are always a big risk, so hopefully something more niche
