With chromatica they were siting on a finished album for months waiting for the "perfect time" to release and suddenly a global pandemic with LG7 they tried to release as close to Joker as possible and suddenly this happens She should trust more on her music quality and release as soon as everything is ready I hope she releases the single a month before the US election 🙏

Raivo 152
I think the whole thing might have been a strategy. They probably knew the **** that was coming and movie not being good. So they released DWAS, as a standalone, not connected to the movie, Harlequin, a much better vocal version than the official soundtrack, and very soon after they are releasing the LG7 lead, so we and music fans forget FAD and are moving on to the LG7. Basically everything squished together in a sandwich so we don't feel the taste of the rotten cheese in the middle. Kudos to Gaga and the team for still giving us looks, interviews, LG6.5 and DWAS to lessen the blow of FAD. We can't really complain. Mother did everything she could. 2 1

Jill 29,006
Just out of curiosity: Meryl Streep's lowest-rated movie is Lions for Lambs (2007), which has a 27% critical reception and a 47% audience reception on Rotten Tomatoes. All great artists have flops here and there. Nothing out of the ordinary. I think Gaga is handling the whole Joker situation very well, with Harlequin and everything. HugoJG 1,089
This whole debate about whether it's a flop or not or whether it's bad or not is so ARTPOPish. I just hope we don't talk about this the next 10 years

Yes, this is not a big deal overall, but for some people its cool to hate on lady Gaga, its always about her, wether its good or bad remember how they focused more on her NOT being oscar nominated with HOG rather than looking at the actresses that were actually nominated? faysalaaa 3,510
The movie is not about Harlequin, its about the Joker, and its a sequel of the original movie that was all about the Joker. The movie is literally called the Joker! Why did people here expect Gaga to be a main character? I also knew the movie wouldnt do good considering mainstream Batman fans arent interested in Batman musicals, or an artist like Lady Gaga. What is more likely is Interscope was like hmm... this soundtrack is not gonna make us a lot of money so Gaga, why don't you turn these unappealing songs into something else that we can actually market? Why not get your fiancé involved so we can clusterbomb these disparate elements (Olympics, engagement, Joker movie, Bruno collab) together into something that might sell? Actors dont need to see a final cut to smell a **** show movie tho. There’s an interview where they admit to basically todd and Joaquin going to his trailer to re-write scenes as they were shooting. The entire script went out the window. Thats never a good sign and I think if you’re on set and witness a good amount of improvisation you can tell something is off. Elizabeth Olsen explained the same thing with Wanda and her whole arc in the MCU. She addressed she never really got a finalized script and by the time they wrapped she didn't know what the movie was about due to changes. Also, actors sometimes get a pre-screening copy too. about OP: I don’t think Gaga herself knew exactly what the final cut would look like. But based on how she will start the LG7 era, and already told us the album release month, I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is her way of moving on quickly after she herself saw some warning flags along the way. I mean, you’re two lead actors laughing and avoiding the question “was it everything you’d hope for”, doesn't scream like they did not see this coming at all. If anything they probably knew and the reason they nerviously laughed was because the movie being questionable was a topic even amongst the cast way before it came out/as soon as it came out. Robert 254
Why do you all say they changed the direction of the film? These are just your theories, no one has ever confirmed this. It's true that they cut some of her scenes, but this happens in all films. Joaquin also probably had several scenes cut. The movie would have been pretty much the same even with those couple more scenes, because they were not so important as to completely change the plot. Lee's character is very important in the story, she is literally the one who influences Arthur's actions and decisions, so please stop saying she was underused. Lee didn’t need a backstory because the film didn't aim to tell that. It wasn't important to the plot delves deeper into her character. You can say you didn't like the movie, but please stop saying Gaga is disappointed with the result too, because no one knows what she's really thinking right now.
