I disliked the movie, but I've watched comic book movies way worse than this one.

So people rated Catwoman higher?

I feel like Katy Perry and Margot Robbie are liking this outcome :rip:

No one is going to convince me that this is a bad movie... it's objectively better than 90% of other movies inspired by comics simply by having a clear artistic vision and not being a cgi mess.

For me, the audience score is a "mother!" situation, where the audience was tricked by the marketing, but amplified to the tenth because of the popularity of the genre and its vocal main demographic.

Then, media and critics followed suit with the hate train because it's the most profitable thing to do.

This sounds like it was absolute hell for Gaga to work with Phoenix.

Nothing is worse than a director who lets his lead do whatever he wants to bc everyone else in this process has to follow. They have no choice but to obey. It's basically like Phoenix took over the directing bc Philipps wasn't there. It never says Gaga took control of it too. She simply stated 'it was a liberating process'. That doesn't sound very convincing. And it gives very boys club vibes where Gaga was treated as some random pop star who's part of it bc of execs pushing Philipps to cast a big name for BO. That would easily explain why Gaga's barely in it even though she had much more scenes. They all were scrapped in that trailer hence why neither the storyline nor the musical part works.

This is jumping to conclusions by me but life on a set is mostly extremely stressful and given the dynamic between Joker and Lee as characters it wouldn't be suprising that the cast of both of them would have similarities in private. It actually often happens with casts. And since Gaga is still a newbie in this you can tell from this interview the men felt she wasn't meant to be with them.

Such a weird project and the worst part is that actors don’t recover that well from these kinds of bombs.

All the people who wanted Gaga to focus on her music career won :bionic:

I hate saying this because when Zack Snyder fans did it they were so f*cking annoying and the movie ended up still being trash after the Snyder cut was released but I think little monsters need to start campaigning for a director’s cut release of JFAD with Gaga’s deleted scenes…

Conspiracy theory: Gaga knew it was bad and that's why she's been working extra hard with DWAS, Harlequin, and LG7 to have more irons in the fire during this crisis.

Once I read about them "tearing up" the script in their trailers, I knew it was a bad sign.

Who knows what the original script even was. But she probably realized on set there was no one steering the ship.

It’s so bad, I think I remember reading or watching something somewhere that they changed the script so many times and had so many different ideas. Terrible

To be honest, when that Venice film director guy said that the audience were 'stunned' or whatever, I did wonder what's he trying to tell us. In my mind's eye I was seeing the audience reaction to the first act of Springtime For Hitler (a very funny moment in a famous old movie called The Producers).

I'm still going to see this movie, and I'm not going to pass judgement until I do, but I'm starting to feel a bit like Leonardo and Kate clinging to the mast in Titanic.

The story behind the making of JFAD just has to be interesting, and I want to know it all.

This is quite literally the total opposite of what we felt with DWAS. Surprisingly so gooood that the world loves it...

While on the other hand, surprisingly we get a not very good film and many people hated JFAD and we get this score :crossed:

And then we have Harlequin inbetween :laughga:

I swear that if social media didn't exist, this movie would have probably been rated a bit higher. Unfortunately, since people love to jump on the hate bandwagon this movie got a score that it DEFINITELY didn't deserve. All over Twitter I am seeing hate tweets getting 50k likes while people praising the movie get absolutely ganged up on and told they have 0 taste.

The acting alone keeps it from being a D-list movie. Add in the cinematography and the music, which was (mostly) really well done, and you're looking at a high C—enough for the movie to be considered a moderate success. But no, someone early on hated the idea of it being a musical, and now everyone has jumped on the hate train, repeating the same critiques over and over again.

I am not saying this movie is the best movie of all time, but with the hate the movie was getting I was expecting a trainwreck. To my surprise I found the movie enjoyable and will probably see it again soon.

Honestly as long as Gaga receives rave reviews for her performance then I don’t care as much :vegas:

In my messy era.

What's the point starting unnecessary wars? :patrizia:

Ok, the movie is quite bad but this is the sequel of a successful movie, so of course everybody had huge expectations for FAD, hence all the overreacting criticising. I am not worried at all, Gaga did a good job, barely nobody is making her responsible for the disaster and she is still killing it with DWAS having the LG7 lead around the corner. She is gonna be fine!
