Her team was just bragging how they treated DWAS's release like an album which helped with its success. Well where was that planning here? Her monthly listeners and a new popular single should be helping the album but I think the movie is just ruining it. Even the song selection here compared to her previous 2 jazz albums is more audience friendly due to their popularity so this is really sad. Was it super last minute or something?

It is on amazon for pre-order now ! Will be released on 10/11.

Yea not really good, esp if you guys considered 143 a flop. But I get that this is a side project and honestly as long as the music is good that’s what really matters. But let’s not delude ourselves that this is indicating good commercial success, again not that its all that matters.

First of all, people need to quit throwing stones at other pop stars. Second, 143 was heavily promoted with three singles prior to release including singles with features that also flopped. Third, it’s a side project, Jazz album full of covers. It’s beautiful and I’m glad she gave it to us. Either way we got a movie, soundtrack and album out of this era that is about to segue into LG7 her main pop release and era. She also released nearly a month prior one of the biggest worldwide smashes of her career. She’s delivered performances, interviews, fashion, red carpet appearances, and even documentaries rooted in her passion for activism. It’s everything she was delivering during her TFM/BTW years. We got a new pop banger hitting us soon with a new pop album in February. She is satisfying every fan of hers throughout her career in a relatively short time frame. Only thing I hope is that the week after Halloween she delivers Kamala endorsements, speeches and performances like she did for Hillary and Biden.

I don't think it's fair to compare Harlequin to 143 though. 143 is literally Katy's pop comeback and Harlequin is an album full of jazz standards and show tunes with varying genres. 

This isn't a GREAT debut, but it's good/fine. I don't think she & her team expected this to be a big album anyway; it was a companion piece to the movie. If LG7 debuts at #15, sure, it wouldn't be good, but this isn't that.
