My unpopular opinion is that World On A String is the best song there, it feels so different :tony:

It is so different from the original versions.  My unpopular opinion:  This is a rare case where previous versions of a song make me appreciate Gaga's version less.   Both of these versions are jazz, but totally different from each other stylistically, and I like each of them better than Gaga's version:

Definitely one of my favorite tracks on the album.  Gaga's singing was amazing, and her style was faithful to the great feeling of the original.  Totally wonderful!  :applause:

It's an album that exists and it's got some good stuff and some less good stuff and regardless it won't impact our lives in any meaningful way.

Maybe I should open a thread for opinions by old and tired people 3.0

My only opinion about this album is that The Joker is a slay and that I don't care about the jazz songs :laughga: fairly popular opinion

I feel like Folie à deux is kind of underrated. I also like Close to You but I prefer the slower version from that snippet.

It's impacted me in one way;  repeated listenings are gradually making it my favorite Gaga album ever.  But I can understand why people who are here for Gaga's pop could be disappointed.   I was brought up at a time when jazz was still popular.  Actually, there are still jazz concerts for us "old and tired people".  I attend them quite often.  The songs are mostly covers of the old jazz standards.

One thought; Perhaps Gaga could be influencing some of her pop fans to give jazz a try.  I remember Tony Bennett doing a show on MTV.  MTV's audience is mostly rock and pop fans, but Tony sang entirely jazz on the show.  One song from that event:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXYIjk7EKgE

Gaga singing the same song:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_fKrJfnicU

Well, I hear from fans that it’s a challenging and very original collection.

i couldn’t disagree more. It sounds good and she sounds great and it’s a nice album but I would never categorize it as challenging or ultra original. They’re fairly straight covers tbh. I think it’s very okay for us to like something pop just bc it’s nice pop without needing to assign it or Gaga this crazy auteur title. We don’t need to raise the level of our taste, we can just enjoy good, fun music.

It is unpopular opinions? If you were going to get triggered don't visit the thread? :enigma:

I prefer Pop and there is nothing wrong with that.

Unpopular: The Joker is extremely overrated. It reminds me of Perfect Illusion and John Wayne. It's not a bad song, but it's not that great either.

Smile and Folie à deux are the best on the album.

I don’t know how popular this opinion is but I kinda didn’t like Close To You. I mean, it’s not bad but I don’t think the way Gaga sang captures the tenderness and melodic vocals the song requires. Maybe it’s just me being too used to the original.

big disagree, i think she captures tenderness and it's so genuinely moving.

She should rerealse the jazzy songs in The joker/Gonna build a mountain style 😋 I'd totally love to wake up in the morning to a rocky good morning 🌞
