I’m on the AMC subscription thing so I see like 30-50 movies a year and review them all with a 1-10 rating. I gave this movie a 0 and I’ve never given a film a 0 before. It’s also my lowest ranked movie of the year. Let me list some of the things that make this movie awful. 1. Gaga actually steals the show as the best actor in this, but her character is reduced to NOTHING. Her last scene is so abrupt and bland. In fact, I give her props for taking such a poorly developed character and making it seem realistic. Any characteristic they give her, they like flip flop on. 2. It was ashamed to be a musical. Gaga couldn’t give it her all and neither did Joaquin. I’m a huge musical fan and found myself dreading the musical numbers because they weren’t particularly nice to listen to and they didn’t add to the plot. In fact, the musical numbers were so random they felt like they were there to distract from the fact this movie had no plot. At one point, Joker sings a song while on the phone with Gaga and it’s seemingly pointless. 3. In over two hours, nothing happens. Nothing is explained. The ending is so out of left field. I don’t understand any choice made by any character here. They start random plots and then don’t finish them. It’s written like in riverdale where plots just disappear without any mention again. Maybe u should go back to the Grey Sloan and keep in the surgery business, cuz no wonder why Christina Yang and many others left you, no loyalty at all omg...even if it was a bad movie i think is horrible that u score it with a 0, like are u even a Gaga fan? Quizás bastaba respirar, sólo respirar, muy lento...💙

DavidLuis198 839
I liked it a lot better than the first one, but I'm not a fan of superhero movies and thought the first movie was kinda silly on how it tackled his critique of society. I think this movie does its critique so well that people are hating on it because they don't like / don't understand that the movie is about them. Is not a movie for people who were fans of Arthur Fleck / Joker But yeah, it is a kind of slow movie, very depressing and Lee doesn't do much, but even that is in favor of what the movie is trying to say. Also, there is so much music for a movie that "isn't a musical". But she appears a lot in the movie, a lot more than I thought she would with the reviews Edited October 5 by DavidLuis198 I don't know how to write in english 4
OliviaRodrigoStan 4,340
As a dark drama, it's a well produced film; with interesting ideas, good acting, and acceptable writing. As a Joker film, it's pretty bad. So it depends on what your expectations are. If you watch it as a Batman fan, it's a forgettable film. If you watch it ignoring the source material, it's a well made movie. Gaga was good in it (and I'm not glazing her because I'm a fan, I generally don't find her to be a remarkable actress, she was legitimately ok in this one). While I don't agree that it's one of the worst movies ever, I have to agree with a lot of what you said regarding the terrible way plot was handled, the way musical numbers were inserted to make up for lack of plot, lack of explanations and the extreme underuse of Gaga. It gives the impression that this sequel was never planned but had to be made and this was what Todd came up with under duress. But Gaga is just so good that she redeems it amazingly and why so many of her scenes were reduced or flat-out cut is a mystery to me. 6 minutes ago, Economy said: How unfortunate. A movie like this had so much potential and it sounds like they really screwed up the script It's not so much the script it's just lack of plot and the characters have a lack of direction. I know they say the worse a movie is, the longer it feels but I genuinely felt like this movie was very short, it was all over too quick before anyone or anything could reach its full potential. A critic said they loved Gaga in it but her character never fully took wing and that is the best way to describe it. She was amazing in this role, I got literal chills to see her play someone so cold, better than she did as Patrizia. If she was a real person, I'd feel genuinely scared to be in a room alone with her. I'd totally watch a movie spin off of her version of Harley (but Todd says that won't happen ). Her best acting for sure. That has to get noticed at least. I'm hoping other directors really see what she can do and give her a role that allows her to shine all the way because this kind of talent needs awards.

Mister G 9,938
Gaga delivered. Some of the other parts didn't make much sense and I expected more to be fair but it wasn't a terrible film. It's not stellar but the first movie had a similar experience. I'd give it a hard 7.5, maybe close 8 out of 10 because I appreciated how they incorporated music as his coping mechanism to create a reality that worked for him. noimfull 2
I just saw it. The critics aren’t too far off. 🫥 The acting is great. The writing/plot is a little meandering. I wish the musical bits were integrated better. I think the second half is definitely better than the first half though. I know how it's frustrating how they can't seem to stop singing the whole movie, I liked the movie and sometimes could not bear more songs, but I disagree with this scene being pointless Spoiler Arthur has no one in the world and really loves (or deludes himself into thinking he loves) Lee and sees in her a fantasy of beginning a family and maybe having a normal life. Then she leaves him when he doesn’t want to be Joker and he's desperately trying to save their relation, is like those scenes in movies when a guy runs to the airport to catch his love interest before she goes away to somewhere, is his big romantic gesture to get his girl back. This scene also shows how Arthur is kinda dumb and innocent to think Lee likes him, even when she abandons him he doesn’t realize she was using him all along and that she liked Joker, not Arthur. It also mirrors the earlier scene where Arthur finds out the Lee lied to him and she sings Close To You to him as a way of winning his trust / love back Edited October 5 by DavidLuis198 I don't know how to write in english
NarlesLM 487
13 hours ago, Juniper said: Should’ve had a better, meatier script. AND I would have loved if they had shown more Lee outside of the prison and courtroom so we could see her stan life dedicated to the Joker. Gaga should have plenty of experience from die hard stalker fans from her own life. Instead it felt very boxed in, which is also the Joker POV I guess. But the whole movie was claustrophobic. Maybe give us a scene of her riling media up and talking about the Joker for instance? Let me use your comment to point out another Genius point of the movie that a few people are mentioning: It's meant to feel boxed as Arthur is boxed both in jail (physically) and on Stage (metaphorically). The stage he put himself on by doing what he did on the first movie causing the surge of a lot of stans both on Gotham and and real life. Scott choose to show those stans that they are stanning the wrong things in the first place and the movie is achieving one of it's intent by the general reception. This movie is a piece of art for the books the more you think of. Gotta raise my initial rate from 9 to 9.5/10. hELXIG 41,424
I'm going to watch it tonight in a few hours... I didn't watch any teasers so I don't have many expectations, but from the sounds of things Idk what to expect. I'll try going into it with an open mind and see how I feel about the movie as a whole. At least I already know she isn't in it much so I can lower my expectations there I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
Lava 3,201
Just saw the movie. She doesn’t even feel like Harley Quinn. They had her singing off key half the time which is understandable, but why then would they cast the powerhouse that is Gaga? it’s definitely not THAT bad or not worth seeing, but on top of mother’s scenes being majority cut — this character doesn’t feel like Harley Quinn. No spoilers, but this HQ’s background is different from hers traditionally. I was expecting her to be his psychiatrist and fall in love with him, fighting/attacking people, etc. Gaga did the best w what she was given but it’s really disappointing. This could have been her best movie, but the film is not edited in her favor. She doesn’t do bad at all, but she is not highlighted. hopefully her deleted scenes resurface in a directors cut or separately somehow. I feel bad for her and Joaquin both. Two of the greatest living performers and Philipps released THAT. Edited October 5 by Lava
Lava 3,201
I just posted about it if you wanna see my full detail. It’s not good but it’s not terrible. As a Gaga fan, it’s disappointing bc there’s just not a lot of her and not a lot of variety in her scenes. It feels unfair tbh
