They started and ended randomly with awkward blackouts, making the editing feel messy. - Some might call the movie a courtroom drama, but the guilt debate was pointless. Everyone knew he was guilty, making the entire sequence a waste of time. - The ending made no sense at all. I’m disappointed because the first movie had an actual plot and something meaningful to say unlike this one. I don’t understand how this script was approved. I literally just said all of this to my friend and then I came across your comment and I screenshot it and sent to him and was like, “guess I’m not delulu either!” thank you!! praying for a directors cut/extended version/alternate ending version. I felt like I was the only one who clapped at the end of the film. Everyone just all walked out silently. YEET 1

Lead Actress or Supporting Actress — where do you think she should compete? She’s underused in the movie. Sadly I think she’s not gonna be I any competitive category. No nominations or awards for that. Sorry Edited October 1 by MessyTop

The whole theater just sighed and slowly walked out when it was over lol. Lots of dudes that liked the first movie in my showing. I'll add that the idea of the film is probably lost on people that just want action and to see "the joker" do his joker stuff. I thought it was really thought-provoking. It's almost like the director saw how young men misinterpreted the original and loved the character and wanted to make sure those people didn't like this movie. It kind of gave me a thrill that the young men in the audience didn't like it. The joker is a bad person and you shouldn't identify with him. And now they don't 🥰 after sitting with it for a bit, i now feel the same way and now i actually like the film lol to those who just wanna see two clowns go on a Bonnie/Clyde adventure, go watch one of the many animated shows/films about Joker/Harley because thats really what u wanna see.. over exaggerated cartoonish violence, which this movie is not (although u do get a little taste of that at one point) Edited October 1 by phantasmas 3

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm wondering if the mixed reception and people who are dissing Todd Phillips ("he didn't know what story he wanted to tell") just don't get it. I don't know. That's what I'm hoping... a mixed reception but a true GEM in the long run that will be regarded as ahead of its time. 6
Robo Ga 15,030
I saw it last night. I really hate to say but I’m disappointed 😭 the movie itself was a huge let down, Gaga was great of course, but I agree with what has been already said in this thread… the actual script / story was unacceptable… all the actors did phenomenally well and they deserved more out of the material they had to work with. I am actually so surprised that this was the final product and no one from the studio sent them back to the drawing board. And yes, I was excited, but I didn’t have sky-high expectations either. I highly doubt the general public will receive this well… 4/10 is my rating. At least we have Harlequin the album which is now by farrrr my fav part of this era ❤️ 🤖⚡️ 3

lance13 1,004
Just my 2 cents, but the movie is called "Joker" for a reason.....it's a movie about his character. I'm glad they didn't saturate the movie with Gaga......it would have been so obvious. I have 2 showings on Thurs. and 2 on Fri. I'm sure Gaga will be AMAZING in whatever amount of screen time she has. Edited October 1 by lance13 Misspell
Modern Ecstasy2 2,148
I think that people who haven’t seen it yet should try to go in with an open mind. But, other than Gaga and Joaquin’s acting who are both phenomenal, I’m disappointed in the overall movie. The musical element did not work and it’s nowhere near the first one, which I’m a huge fan of. “Delete this thread that person is not Gaga he is a hot blonde twink”

InTheCloset 17,754
I have bought tickets so i will be seeing the movie. When the movie was announced and after filming was complete Gaga was considered a strong contender for Lead Actress during awards season mainly Oscars. Then near premiere (Venice) it was reported that her role was cut short post production. As it premiered in more areas her role was considered as Supporting. Now as it is about to premiere across the globe people are saying her role is not even strong enough for a supporting nomination. We can never have it all. This is obviously just my opinion but I do think that all the negative reviews I've seen are just people that don't get it and don't want to. it's really clear from the movie that Todd had intention with this film, and I think it was brilliant. The way is plays off the audience expectations is amazing. Spoiler I mean you literally have the joker saying "you just want a spectacle" like it could not be more obvious what this film is supposed to evoke, and it did exactly that, and people are not connecting the dots lmao.
Catnikko 13,687
why don't you just watch it and judge for yourself instead of basing your opinion on gossip? https://linktr.ee/jamalholt 2 1
djBuffoon 11,994
This is why people should actually see the movie before talking out of their ass. I always see headlines like "So-and-so is generating Oscar buzz for their role as XYZ, currently filming." and it makes me laugh, because, how many times has a film or performance sounded like a sure thing on paper, just to come out and have nobody move? Countless.

SEANGT 4,905
I love the movie but yes, I don't think her role was really enough for any oscar buzz. I don't really care about that though.
