LastNight 5,678
It’s all I keep saying, but That’s Life knocks me over every time. I cannot believe what I’m hearing. Her performance on it is absolutely phenomenal. The ‘That’s Liiiife’ at 2:21 after her growls on the previous line???? Listening to it altered my DNA. The world will never be the same for me. Her version makes me wish I could sing so that I could belt it out myself. I know it’s so much fxxxing fun for her to sing it - it must be so satisfying. ImMatt 1,583
What's so exciting is I'm hearing things vocally from Gaga in Harlequin that I've NEVER heard before. She's taking risks, and it's so awesome to hear. 3 1 1 1

Girl, leave Charli out of this, she's an icon
Hyperobject 66,768
okay, I think I’ve finally come up with my thoughts about this record! my biggest issue is probably the fact that to me this album makes no sense conceptually: the visuals, the build-up, Gaga’s explanation of the record and its meaning… led me to believe that this album was going to be performed from Lee’s perspective. but the record is way too polished, too sane to feel like a collection of songs beloved and performed by a someone like Lee imo. aside from maybe 3 or 4 songs, this reads like a standard cover album - yes, Gaga did put her own spice onto these classics, but it lacks the edge for me, personally, for this particular concept. That’s why I’m excited to hear the soundtrack now, I have a feeling that I’m gonna like some of the “in character” takes on these standards more than the studio versions! But we will see. that being said, That’s Life, World on a String, Close to You, hell, the whole second half of the album goes straight to my playlist, it’s such a vibe lmao. She sounds heavenly on these songs, haven’t heard her belt this clean in years, I think. Her rendition of Smile must be my favorite, it’s so haunting and eerie, I never liked the song for some reason, but her version is just flawless. inb4 I should leave the fandom and never listen to her music ever again, you’re right

Guest
This album is very surprising in the best way possible. I've been a fan since 2008. I'm 33 so I've been here the whole time, and some of the vocals she gives, like some of the other members have said, are like new and never heard before. It's amazing to hear the growth in her voice. She's truly an artist like no other of our time.

I was confused on the first listen, if anything. It's taken time to come to terms with what it really is as an album. And once I did that, I fell in love. I think she tried to capitalize on DWAS, Joker and the LG7 anticipation to push a non-Pop record, which required some creative marketing, which set skewed expectations, hence the disjoint. ElectricChapelR 1,975
This album made me very happy and emotional. It's just so enjoyable and now I feel sorry for threatening Gaga that I will kidnap her sister if she doesn't release music ASAP. She really worked hard 🥲🥲 Sorry Gaga, it was a joke! 2
