NCgaga 4,278
Really dissapointed on a personal level with this. - this album would have been the perfect opportunity to make a rock themed album- instead we get ANOTHER album of jazz standards. WHY? She can make a jazz standard album any time. Such a lost opportunity. 1 1 1

She has done jazz albums 3 times now. “The Joker and Happy Mistake” were the right direction for this film. The rest of this album is just jazz standards. The album is great if you are looking for an album of Jazz Standards. Edited September 27 by NCgaga

The album is great if you are looking for an album of Jazz Standards. Have you seen the first Joker? The musical direction they're taking for the sequel is in line with the tone and aesthetics established in the first film. I said this in my earlier posts, but I really think some of y'all are overstating just how "jazzy" this album is. Jazz is a huge influence on the album, but it's also got soul, gospel, rock, and funk. Most importantly, it's very theatrical. Honestly, that's how I would describe the album before anything else. It feels very theatrical/musical, which again, is in line with the tone and aesthetics for Joker. Atp if you're looking to be a fan of Gaga, you need to be a fan of her work outside pop music. That's not to denigrate her pop stuff—we all love it—but she's much more than a dance/electronic pop star. She's capable of doing many different genres and projects. If you're a fan of Gaga solely for her dance/electronic work, you're only a fan of the idea of who you think Gaga should be. Gagaplayer315 13,511
Oh my God she really just released her Jazz Magnum Opus. Every song is so good and her vocals are at their peak. My top 5 is: The Joker, Happy Mistake, That's entertainment, That's life and Oh when the saints. I could listen to this album over and over again cause it's just that good 6 3

WHY? She can make a jazz standard album any time. Such a lost opportunity. Because she wants to. It's as simple as that. You can make a rock-themed album yourself if you feel so strongly about it. 9
Fahs 163
If you've been a fan of Gaga since "The Fame," it shouldn't be so difficult at this point to understand that she loves Jazz and it will remain a part of her DNA and musical journey for the rest of her career. If you can't grasp that reality, then seek a therapist and ask them why you have such strong delusional tendencies. Whether you like it or not, Jazz and Gaga are inseparable. This is what she loves and where she found and continues to find herself. Continuing with your "disappointment" is not going to change her mind; it will only hurt her since you can't seem to be satisfied with anything she does. If you have such strong artistic opinions about how Gaga should run her career, my advice to you is that you should become an artist yourself and make the artistic choices you believe she should be making. Otherwise, find yourself a new fave and stop beating a dead horse. 3 1 2

It’s fine if the only jazz songs you know or are exposed to are jazzy Christmas standards, but to call an entire genre “Christmas-y” because of your lack of broader knowledge about it is lowkey musically and culturally illiterate. 3 1
