Flippy 11,477
I love Chromatica but ARTPOP will forever be iconic (except for my one skip, J&D ) TMBT 3.22.11 // TBTWB 1.17.13 // ArtRAVE 6.3.14 // C2CT 5.28.15 // TJWT 8.13.17 // Chromatica World Tour 9.8.
RichAssPiss 4,634
I really wish I could hear Chromatica with a different producer. I feel like lyrically she had a vision but it all got turned into flat sounding "duff duff" music (to paraphrase Sia).

It was a huge mix of weirder, different electronic sounds, not just what was being played on mainstream radio - 2010-2014. If it were released today I bet it'd a little more appreciated for sure. Funny enough, one of the LG7 snippets feel like a Aura/Partynauseous hybrid too.

I mean that's because that many of the instrumentals were bought from other lesser-known experimental underground producers and taken from already existing songs/demos. It's still a great album and in a way was the last proper pop era we got but I think there's a reason why it's a cult classic and one of her least appreciated works. It's not an album of supreme production like what some fans have been trying to impose for quite sometime now. Literally just search EDM Mashup songs, you'll eventually find at least an instrumental similar sounding to ARTPOP lol. The whole album could've been great if it didn't try fitting too many visions all in one album, didn't try hard in being "experimental" or "different" which resulted the opposite. It's a good album, but it's definitely way too overrated by fans. Honestly it just pisses me off when ARTPOP lovers hate on Chromatica production for being "basic" but dickride ARTPOP's outdated EDM instrumentals because OH THE BASS IS DEEP AND BIG OH THE SYNTHS ARE CRAZY but anyways. ARTPOP is good, I prefer Chromatica but that doesn't mean I hate the other. 🇵🇭༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽🇵🇭

But they are though! 😭 Bit overproduced but there's a wide variety all over ARTPOP and it's shelved sequel. The instrumentals alone here show that. If we are being technical probably Donatellah and Swine are the most EDM trendy sounding.

I also think due to the incessant mockery the album received during 2013/14 is why a lot of fans do go above and beyond for it. I wasn't a fan that time but even I caught wind of how much negativity and hatred this album was getting online.

ARTPOP still has some of my fave songs don't get me wrong, like the title track itself. it's just annoying dealing with ARTPOP stans online and how CONSTANTLY loud they are comparing her albums (particularly Chromatica) against ARTPOP 🇵🇭༼;´༎ຶ ༎ຶ༽🇵🇭 1
