Should Gaga capitalise off the "aura" trend?

I don't think there is anything to capitalize on. You can't force a song to start trending (unless you throw a lot of money at popular creators but even then it's not guaranteed to take off/go anywhere) and the lyrical content wouldn't work with the context of the trend. :oprah:

Plus atm i dont think she should distract from DWAS and Joker 2 about to start with a song thats 10 years old

What happened with Bloody Mary was very cool but most likely a one off event that is not likely to repeat itself for Gaga to the same extent

At the end of the day, Gaga is a white woman that was, to be frank, diminishing the importance of an important religious/cultural garment. She watered it down to a cheap double entendre about sex/seeing past the physical form through the use of oversimplified lyrics. It’s not gen Z being sensitive, it’s gen z being culturally sensitive.

I think it's important to reflect on this. I have sometimes thought about how Aura is based on something so sensitive and delicate, how the garment is so intertwined with a religion and how it's a target of hate and prejudice. Also the problematic stuff on Born This Way like "chola or orient-made". I don't think it's cancelling material but I also don't think it should be ignored.

It is a testament to Gaga's context as a white woman born and raised on one of the largest cities in a country that shapes and feeds the western way of thinking and consuming. I love her but you can't ignore this and detach her of this context. The North American film and music industries are a way that the U.S can shape thinking, ideologies, beliefs, values, the country's own image and other countries images. It shapes how people construct their interpretation of the rest of the world.

My experience relating to this: here in Brazil we grow up on Disney movies, Hollywood, super-heroes and american pop music and TV Shows. And one of the worst effects we can witness are people viewing the U.S as heaven on earth, the richest country in the world, wanting to have been born there and hating their own culture. And it's very common. I'm an English as a Second Language teacher in public schools, I see firsthand how early those beliefs are formed. I think it's something that shouldn't be underestimated or ignored.

Considering how heavily U.S media is consumed all over the world, the way it portrays other countries and cultures should always be revised, dissected and criticized when it's stereotypical or harmful to avoid perpetuating prejudice and hate.

I'm not saying Gaga does this. Her work is amazing and it's positive and meaningful. But it's her context, it's where she is inserted. And we should think about it and be able to point out what could be better.
