Gaga was able to get her first 3 albums into AOTY when there were only 5 noms and Pop was considered “lesser” than other genres like Country, Rock, Traditional Pop, etc. No doubt she’d have more noms and awards with the 8-nominee lineup and current attitude toward Pop earlier in her career. DWAS missing ROTY was a bad sign, as it is technically a much stronger record than song. Grammys often just pick the same winner twice, but there has seemingly been more effort to give SOTY to the best (or catchy/iconic) lyrics, melody, etc. (Bonnie Raitt in 2023, “What Was I Made For?” in 2024) and ROTY to songs with stronger commercial performance, innovative and/or nostalgic production with strong instrumentation (“bad guy,” “Flowers,” “About Damn Time,” etc.). Pop Duo should be theirs barring something crazy, but SOTY is a toss up. I’d say “BOAF,” “Good Luck, Babe!” and “Not Like Us” are all more/just as likely to win. 3 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
