StrawberryBlond 13,984
I can appreciate how much DWAS has been so highly acclaimed, got Grammy noms and maintained its hit status all the way into November (if only it was the lead single). But Disease is where her fans focus should be. I know fans alone can't make a song a hit but it can certainly give it a good debut. It's not just in the US, it has charted in very few countries in the world and only hit top ten in 3. It's not even about promo at this point, those plans are dead in the water at this time of year with a distinctly un-festive song like Disease. If Beyonce, who's older than Gaga, can put out a song with no video or promo and it goes to #1 for weeks, why can't Gaga? I refuse to believe her fans, who clearly love this song in general, are not streaming it or watching its video. Seriously, where are you lot? Where's the devotion?

I have no idea how he gets so many new listeners per day when Gaga's new listeners are growing by much less, APT. alone is not enough for explanation. Maybe Gaga's listeners have been listening to Gaga's biggest songs from time to time, while Bruno is really reaching a whole new audience?

And to throw in a song bc it’s super successful would throw off the whole world and feeling of this album, which I’m sure is meticulously crafted. as a fan base we would (and I’m sure have) light up any artist who did that. it also shows a certain level of desperation which she clearly doesn’t possess as we’ve seen with the rollout of disease. I really just don’t think this album was created for the gp and mainstream music lovers… I feel this album is gonna be complete fan service - the dark edgy Gaga we’ve all been begging for the last 8 years which is why they put out the GP smash that is DWAS. she told her label, “here you go - here’s your mainstream smash. now I’m gonna go be a ****ing weird.” I agree 100 percent. Also adding it aside from not being Gaga at all, but it would look desperate and cheap. I too ant a strong cohesive album and I think she really wants to leave her mark now, for the fans (she called her subsidiary lil monster LLC) and for being recognised as an artist that made music to be remembered 10 years from now. I saw a discussion the other day from a music professor talking about the Hot 100 top 20. Said he was amazed the level is not this low after the music revolution of the 70s till the at least 10 years ago. Everything is kinda stagnant. I don't care if she doesn't chart. She can afford it. If this album will be her last pop album in years, do you all really think she did not prepare a whole show for us all? Also seeing a reverse (lol) in some of the people who Stan the song a week ago calling it a buzz single now.... Disgusting nonsequitur

Auralegends 4,689
Remember DWAS was treated like an album release and we were complaining Disease is clearly not treated like that
scheisseJK 2,160
Ofcourse We can complain about chart poor performance but please dont say they choose wrong s song when stupid love and perfect illusion as leads existing in the same world At the end i prefer banger ,dark gaga killer which we loved from 1st listen, that was praised by critics which flop on the charts than getting medicore flat easy song with top 5 chart performance Sometimes just song dont get more succces without a specific reason or few small reasons put together like DWAS overshadowing, GP wanting ballads from her , bad timing etc or maybe will get recognition after some time (judas says hi) And i got impression that suddenly some of you started to like disease less because its not doing well on charts - thats ridiculous Edited November 10 by scheisseJK 2

I refuse to believe her fans, who clearly love this song in general, are not streaming it or watching its video. Seriously, where are you lot? Where's the devotion? Aside from Taylor, a fanbase is not enough to give a song a big debut. It's been proven again and again. The GP needs to check it out. You mentioned Beyonce but her GP standing is miles above Gaga in music. Disease isn't any worse than Texas Hold'em but the GP is gonna check out Beys stuff at least on debut week. It's why she had a huge debut but fell shortly after. SL, for all it's faults, came at a time when Gaga had GP momentum thanks to ASIB. Unfortunately the song was not good hence it tanked right after (similar to Beyonce's country stuff). Disease certainly isn't a masterpiece but I truly believe it checks off most boxes for a good hit single. It's certainly better than Break My Soul for example. But the sad truth is, Gaga squandered her GP appeal with ARTPOP and had been absent from the pop landscape in the following years with Joanne and Jazz. ASIB brought her back but she once again squandered it with SL/Chromatica then went away from pop music again similar to the 2014-2016 period. JFAD should have brought her back but it tanked. They needed to pivot, and I don't think they succeeded. It really seems like the entire lead single roll out was banking on a smash JFAD. They released a Halloween song a few days before Halloween (can you imagine releasing a xmas song on December 21?) and now it's already xmas music season. This would have been ok if JFAD smashed, she would have rode the momentum. . The timing is not conducive to a hit song. It's not a sexy option, but I think they should have scrapped the single and regrouped for January.
