I'm from the UK, but on a similar note, I remember when as girls we would get detentions if we wore socks that showed our ankles when wearing trousers. They called a whole school assembly about how - I'm not even kidding - showing our ankles would distract boys. I wish I was joking. They pitched it in this way that basically said 'it's your responsibility to make sure boys aren't distracted by you because you're girls and all you do is act as a temptation'.
