AsleepOnTheCeiling 6,976
I could see SCOTUS staying low and avoiding controversy over the next few months. Riling people up about checks and balances on SCOTUS with more controversial decisions is not good during an election year in which their political party is losing. This is just the "OK then, so what's the punishment?" phase. Why are they separate? Don't ask me. It's a thing. A lot of people would have been held (i.e. in jail) pending sentencing, though. Why are they separate? Don't ask me. It's a thing. A lot of people would have been held (i.e. in jail) pending sentencing, though. I believe they’re separate as they’re kind of two separate processes. One is to find out if they’re guilty and how much. That degree of guilty could change a lot of the outcome for how and where a sentencing happens/is served but would be extra work if it winds up he’s not guilty or less guilty than thought. So I get why you’d make sentencing a separate thing in that regard. It seems more efficient to not potentially do unnecessary work. Though why it’s taking this long to hold a sentencing hearing is beyond me lol
