All I can say is if she picks Shapiro and you're disappointed, take that energy and apply it to their leadership post-election instead of adding to any noise that could derail Kamala's campaign in this final stretch.

Last time I made a veepstakes thread, Baeshear was my fave.

I wanted to make a thread last night re-asking everyone, as my mind has changed to favour Walz now.

I’m still uncomfortable that she now has a 50% chance of choosing wrong as opposed to 33% when Beshear was in the top 3….

Shapiro may make it easier to win Pennsylvania, but I don't really see him as broadly appealing to voters across the Rust Belt. He's controversial, especially to the large Arab/Muslim populations that live in Michigan and other places. My personal opinion is that Walz could give a more comfortable margin of victory for Kamala in WI and MI but not necessarily PA. Strategically, I think Shapiro gives an edge that’s backed by numbers available to us.

BUT, I think Walz has more of an advantage than we think. He’s got people in his corner with a lot of pull. I’m sure Nancy has a good sense of how his colleagues in congress see him performing in their states. Plus, Fetterman is allegedly whispering to the Harris camp that Shapiro only cares about his own career. 
 

Right now I think I would be more surprised if she chooses Shapiro over Waltz. But not by much.

Walz for the pick imo but knowing Biden has basically endorsed Shapiro as VP, Obama also is good friends with him and he embodies the Clintonian center democratic part of the party, it's most likely going to Shapiro which would kill her momentum I fear. She's going the 'safe' Hillary road

I kinda feel like Shapiro's only good quality is that he all but guarantees PA. He's a decent orator, but the Obama-lite mannerisms and cadence are very off-putting imo.

To play devil’s advocate ( hehe ) I think Biden’s word has minimal influence on her right now because even after stepping down his approval rating is dog sh*t. As for the Obamas, I don’t think Kamala likes them all that much. There were too many articles of them not wanting her to be the nominee for there not to be some truth to it.

If I were Kamala, I’d listen to Nancy Pelosi. The person who convinced Biden to drop out and gave her a shot at the White House. She’s playing to win. The others will back her candidate anyway. But that’s just my humble opinion.

I hope you're right, it sounds legit. There were however many articles about how different intra-party interest groups were lobbying behind the curtain the last couple days to influnce her decision and supposedly it didn't look like a unified Democratic party at all. Walz probably embodies the more grassroots oriented part of the party whereas Shapiro stands for establishment. Looking at Kamala's career, she's always been an establishment politician and her political views are rather liberal than progressive. I would be suprised if she's going to pick Walz but the sole fact that he's within the number two considered in this decision speaks to her.

Crying at the loss of Beshear truly. VP's are almost inconsequential, but it would have been nice. Hoping for Walz but expecting Shapiro. At least he's kinda cute 😔

If she's going for the surefire electoral win, she would pick Shapiro. I know he's not our choice (for all the reasons listed above), but he's more moderate. And that's what she needs to get the Rust Belt moderate vote. 

Electorally, if she takes Pennsylvania, she basically wins. Since she's moved ahead in MI and WI. And he's LOVED in his home state. So that's hard to pass up. 

That said, I LOVE Walz and still think she can win with him on the ticket. It'll just be a little tougher.
