I guess it’s somewhat of an obscure video, and she’s definitely been more vocal with the Black community, but she does acknowledge her Indian side. I really hope if she wins the presidency she shines some more light on the issues that South Asian and Brown people face. I know where I am here, South Asian people are facing a growing amount of discrimination and racism and people seem to be ok with it for some reason more so than racism against other races. We need more South Asian voices in politics. I don't understand pineapples, so I don't eat bananas.

But if she was identifying as an indian her whole life, then as black after the presidency, its a bit weird.

No in that case it seems like she usually identified as black, but I agree that she is bi-racial and that shouldn’t be erased or ignored. I don't understand pineapples, so I don't eat bananas. I’m sure she’s proud of her Asian heritage and embraces the culture. "****ing rat" - @Dynamite
RenegAde 20,555
Went to watch the interview again and Im not shocked at this cuz he's basically spewing far right talking point that we've all seen and heard on social media. I'm just suprised he thought they would fly with the audience he had.

I think it’s safe to say she’s proudly identified as Black since before she even started her career. This is all dog whistling. She’s very proud of her Indian heritage because she was very close with her mother and it was her mother who influenced the household the most. At the same time she grew up in Oakland went to a famously Black college and was a part of a sorority with famously Black roots. People saying she switches based on whatever suits her in the moment are willfully ignorant. They don’t stop to think, hey, maybe she’s expressing her Blackness in politics because she’s proud to be Black and the nature of the American political system invokes that from her. Being biracial doesn’t mean you’re half and half in every single aspect of your life. You can be Black and identify as Black while also being Indian and Identifying as Indian and you don’t have to clarify this in every social interaction.
