Celine Dion followed the lighting of the Olympic cauldron by performing from the Eiffel Tower. She sang “L’Hymne à l’amour,” a 1950 standard by the late French icon Édith Piaf.

Beautiful. Then I wonder why Gaga was treated the other way lol. Cinematography, time, stage and song choice...  Gaga herself is amazing tho.

I don’t understand what some of you are talking about… Gaga’s performance was amazing, the only thing that could have made it better is if it was at night and not during daylight, besides that what was really the problem? Everyone is praising her only some LMs seem to not like something but don’t say exactly what….

I cried the whole time! And now I’m actually grateful it wasn’t a duet after all, considering all that Céline has been through, she deserved this moment to shine again in front of the whole world! I’m just so happy for her!

I hate when people glorifies sombody just because he/she is sick. Average performance, pre-recorded and just boring in my opinion..
