I can confirm that French people loved her performance. They are not as critical as some commentators on this Gaga fan page, which is quite surprising.

I loved her performance. It was so refreshing, and she looked stunning. Her joy in performing filled me with enthusiasm instantly. I rewatched it several times. Unfortunately, it was pre-recorded (but still with live vocals) because of the weather forecast. With heavy rain, this performance wouldn’t have been possible.

Gaga was perfect and looked like she was having fun, but not to be nitpicky but did anyone else think the background was so unappealing. 😭 The staircase and brick wall looked bad imo..and not to mention the river.

I’m usually not one to complain about stuff like that, but I feel like they could have made something a lot more beautiful, maybe at a different location.

While this song really wasn't my thing, I can appreciate what she was doing here. This was old school cabaret in Paris, on the banks of the river Seine, singing an old song in its native tongue - this is Gaga paying tribute to French culture in the most respectful way. Obviously a reference to her Vegas shows which have been praised as "the closest thing we have to a time machine," she held that statement true with a performance that you couldn't have got from any other current artist right now. She showed vocals, dance, piano and true star power and while I'd hoped for a deeply moving and affecting ballad as we're used to seeing her do at such events, this was another of those moments where, regardless of what you think of the song, her talent is unquestionable. If she performs again, maybe for the handing over ceremony (and let's face it, there's a huge chance she'll also be asked to perform when LA host 4 years from now), it would be the icing on the cake.

It was a fantastic idea (I’m sure it was hers) to do that song and performance as a tribute to Paris and ZiZi Jeanmaire. But I don’t understand if it was prerecorded why they didn’t do it at night in front  of the louvre or another stunning lit place in Paris. There are tons of them! The piano was completely unneeded and I know she puts A LOT of effort into her performances but I wish she would execute the dancing cleanly and polished like we know she can!! It looked like the dancers had only rehearsed it a couple of times! One even fell and they were out of sync multiple times. 
 

She is so gorgeous and I’m sick of even talking about what a failure the toning of her blonde hair is 90% of the time but it enrages me when she does things with her hair blonde and pulled back and it looks literally yellow in the lighting! Like where were the polishing touches for the novel of prep she wrote about on her insta? Just wild to me. Oh well bring on Joker press tour! Hopefully with Tom & Sandra at the reigns things will be great!

So I just watched the performance.

The song is soooooo ****ing annoying

The duet was the only rumour I was hoping to come true after what I just watched but oh well

This was definitely not another Sound of Music. It was nice and an honor for her to be included though. I’m sure it won’t be her last Olympics performance.

Madonna had brows, way heavier eyeshadow and a different contouring for bedtime stories.

Gaga gave something else look-wise so idk why people try to compare it to a Madonna look when it's quite different actually.

Yeah, it was solidly good, but it lacked that extra level of polish and punch that would’ve made it great. Agreed that the choreo looked under rehearsed (there were points where she was somewhat aimlessly flailing during the fills) and the vocals were very good, but the whole thing felt kind of thrown together.
