Really no inconsistency here whatsoever. The statement explicitly about Israel’s right to defend itself includes the caveat “how it [defends itself] matters.” What she’s saying is that Israel’s response to October 7th has been disproportionate. Pretty common sense stuff imo.

The words she chose show the inconsistency as it is not defending but plain attacking that they do. It is not defense when there are dead children, schools and hospitals destroyed eight months after October 7th. She does have to keep up with US politics  though so her statement is expected ig.

Israel is claiming that what they are doing is in response to 10/7, she clearly distinguishes that that excuse is impermissible. What else do you want her to say?

Please note, that in this moment she has to be overcorrect using words like "unwavering" otherwise she could be shut and easily targeted as anti-semitic. She still is in a position where she needs the support of every corner of her own party before she could truly say what positions she is believing to be the best. With that being said, I think it was a very well balanced speech and thoughtful showing how she highlighted concerns while also appelling to everyone to not forget about the nuances and the history of this conflict while also condeming violence of any form within during the protests.

I watch the heart breaking videos of Gaza too. In those moments I want to tear all of DC to pieces for allowing those things to happen. I understand the rage of the protestors, but likewise it enrages me to watch them squander an opportunity to have a president who can be reasoned with or pressured to change American foreign policy. Instead they want to smear her in this moment and let HIM win.

Wonder if this is a sign she’s chosen Shapiro to be her running mate. However middle of the road this statement is, it’s as pro-Gaza as you’re ever gonna get from a politician running to be president. Having Shapiro on board could possibly free her up to be this bold.

I agree with you. I don’t know the answers, but liberal folk saying Kamala equals Trump is truly shocking. Is flat out dangerous

I think Shapiro is a great politician, but it could get very complicated. From all the polls everyone wants Pete or Gretchen. We shall see
