Ants From Up There 187
Angel of My Dreams >>>> Boyz (can't believe I'm even rating it this high) > Don't Say Love > Forget About Us Most were a bit of a letdown outside of Jade, but still speaking relatively, Jade isn't letting the other girls breathe. That outro alone >>>>, she knows her audience and her strengths and had a very cohesive vision of what she wanted to present, which I can't really say for the other girls. Don't Say Love was serviceable but sounded like it could be anyone else's song and should have showcased Leigh-Anne's vocals more. Forget About Us gave 2014 Rita Ora realness, I know that her team wanted to go with the most radio friendly single but it leaned too far into being generic to the point of robbing Perrie of a chance to craft a more distinct artistic personality to showcase to the general public. I rate Boyz above the other two because at least it gave us one of the messiest rollouts of the decade as opposed to being completely forgotten in a few weeks, and the sample actually goes hard Edited July 19 by Ants From Up There
liamgaga 465
Leigh Anne is a close second tbh I liked don’t say love! I had it on repeat when it first came out! I wanted more from perrie with her vocals but her debut did nothing for me unfortunately
TheOriginalOne 9,609
@Gimme More’s thread exposed me to Angel Of My Dreams and I’m addicted. Been listening to it nonstop. Jade gives MPG energy! Edited July 19 by TheOriginalOne
StrawberryBlond 14,001
Angel Of My Dreams > Boyz > Forget About Us > Don't Say Love Jade has presented the best song and most interesting vision but time will tell if it's going to translate into an entire era of brilliance. Jesy presented a very fun song with an extremely heavy sample but it was done well and got too much unnecessary hate (wish she hadn't featured Nicki and Diddy either), Perrie's was ok was very on-trend and generic in a way that just didn't 'wow' and Leigh-Anne's was so bland that I've completely forgotten what it sounds like now. Actually, if we really want to get down to brass tacks, all their second singles were better than their than their debuts. Perrie's Tears was serviceable, Leigh-Anne's My Love was catchy and dancey and Jesy's Bad Thing was heartbreakingly sad and definitely the best single out of all the girls so far. We just have to wait to see what Jade can follow up with now. The sad thing is, though, I don't really see a big solo future for any of the girls, no matter how good they are. I think they all left it too long to go solo, now they're in their 30's. You have to strike while the iron is hot while the group's at its strongest to stand a chance. There's really also only a big success if one of them has been identified as the 'star' of the group by the public (think Diana Ross, Geri Halliwell, Beyonce, Cheryl Cole, Camila Cabello) and I don't think the public ever did that (only way was by singling out Jesy negatively, poor thing). The public have viewed them as a group for so long that to see them as soloists after all this time is weird and it's a case of thinking it's them as a group or nothing. migamiga 12,101
i meant to vote for jade but accidentally voted for leigh (which would be my #2 anyways) perrie’s was a little two basic for me but it’s not bad as for jesy, well-
