Guest
Not Kamala though ... it will be the same delusion there was with Hillary. Democrats ignoring the fact that they need someone who is not elitist and instead believing her being "the first" is going to have a much greater impact. If they really want to win this race they need to get rid of the current two and build up a fresh face. It's risky but people will give it a chance and this is the exact momentum they need rn

Some thought it’d be so bad they were calling it a red tsunami. The red wave ended up being a ripple and democrats won the special elections in 2023 even in safe r districts where they were projected to not even be close in. Also the same polls that were showing a Romney win in 2012 against Obama. A Hillary victory in 2016. A blue tsunami in 2018.

Well no, the red wave was just an overhyped media talking point… ”Media proclamations of a “red wave”occurred largely despite polls that showed a close race for the U.S. Senate and a close generic congressional ballot. It was the pundits who made the red wave narrative, not the data.” https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/how-our-2022-midterm-forecasts-performed/#:~:text=Media proclamations of a “red, the polls weren't perfect. Hopefully my symptoms don’t go for that long. We didn't know it was covid for the first week. My wife and I had totally different symptoms and they were bad. Finally we took those home covid tests and found we both had covid. We are older and have bad underlying conditions that make covid dangerous for us. We have been over it for about a week now. I hope you get over it quickly. I live outside the space time continuum.

I’m pretty sure I trust the various congress people losing their **** over their own polling and wanting to throw Biden off the ticket. Like this is not light decision to make I mean it’s the same narrative each time with 538. The results actually fell within our margin of error, it’s just how we chose to interpret that data and how the pundits framed the data. Based on the data, Democrats had a less than 50% chance of retaining the senate and they ended up gaining a seat. They said one of the biggest challenges was that Republicans turned out heavily in dark red districts while the swing districts, Democrats pulled them over the line. Congressional democrats are still polling ahead of republicans on average according to 538. Biden has recovered in polling from his post-debate slump. Trump’s assassination attempt did nothing in terms of affecting his polling. Turns out a Republican trying to gun down another Republican isn’t exactly the uniting and rallying message for Trump. Unless there is a major development about his health. Him throwing in the towel will have a big deflating effect. We saw an almost exact same scenario with LBJ where due to health concerns he threw in the towel and Nixon won. Likewise with Obama, congressional democrats abandoned him and threw him under the bus and the party suffered devastating losses throughout his presidency. Obama’s 2012 campaign had Nate Silver declaring that Obama was toast and that he was gonna lose re-election. The New Yorker placed Obama’s chances of winning at 17%. Reality is most credible pundits with lengthy experience still have Biden hedging out. There is a reason why Trump can’t hit that 50% either. His diehards want him and no one else. Most long time pundits believe that after the convention is when the polls really start to take shape and is when people really start forming their opinion. That most of the undecideds are ultimately going to make the same decision that they made in 2020 because all of the key fundamentals that people care about are with Biden. JD Vance is going to be further deterrent for undecided people as his appeal is mostly with supporters that are already die hard Trumpers. His record is brazenly extremist, anti-woman, and anti-LGBT. While Trump was never an LGBT ally; he also doesn’t have a lengthy record of being vocally against them either like Vance or against women like Vance. October is really when things solidify but that point we are already locked in. I enjoy and respect Kamala Harris but she is the only suitable replacement that can replace Biden at this moment. I know a recent poll came out showing her more favorable than Biden for the first time in the past 3 years. However, people are being Delulu if they think she will actually perform better than Biden come election time. She is not a good campaigner and ran a poor campaign in 2020 for president. Her favorability ratings were dramatically behind Biden’s for 5 years before one poll this past week. She is going to face a lot of problems when under the magnifying glass and people actively consider her as leading candidate. At this stage in the election and given the other option. Democrats need to stop letting perfect be the enemy of good, stop worrying about what other people are thinking and rally behind their candidate as hard as Trumpers rally behind their candidate, and stop getting into fetal defensive positions over any small misstep. If Biden ends up being unable to fill his role as president during the term, Kamala is right there to step in. With the exception of a major development in Biden’s ability to do his job; throwing in the towel at this stage is self-defeating, momentum deflating and will give off the stench of low confidence and disarray for the party at large which will result in further devastation when it comes time to vote. I was against Biden being the nominee in 2020 but it’s easier for people to imagine hypothetical better candidates than when the reality actually sets in with the American public and they begin closely scrutinizing others.
