Correct, but nothing about THIS election in particular is normal. We’ve never had a convicted felon fascist demagogue running against a borderline dementia patient president who debated in June. 

This debate is having a significant impact on polling and therefore I’d say we can’t continue saying the polls are irrelevant. 

In a few months we will know if this debate ultimately cost Biden the presidency.

Honestly…. Idk. Trump lost last time do we really think that he has improved or changed his image, platform, and reputation enough to the point that he will sway significant amounts of votes from people who chose not to vote for him last time?? He’s a pretty polarizing figure, idk- I can’t imagine that a big portion of voters will suddenly find him alluring over Biden given he is just as horrible today as he was in 2020 only now a felon… at least I really wanna hope this makes sense. Ugh

Realistically, he is not dropping. In a scenario where he did drop, Kamala Harris would most likely become the presidential candidate. She is on the ticket that Democrats voted for in the primaries. She is the one Democrats voted for as Biden’s second in command. There is a legitimate argument that could be made for her. It would also be the “cleanest” way to do it. I’d imagine some last minute type of voting scheme would have to be devised to elect a different nominee that would lead to even more chaos. Watch what the older D’s are saying. Clyburn was already quoted as saying he would support Kamala. Pelosi, Hakeem, and all the other top dogs would likely follow suit.

CNN is certainly trying to make a case for her with their latest poll. She’s “in striking distance” of Trump.

The Centrist & Blue Dog democrats are so determined to not give power to the left of the party that their actions are essentially "we'd rather lose and the country move further right". 

That's the only logic through which to understand why they committed to Biden in the primaries so hard despite him running in 2020 on the claim he wouldn't run again.

Trump does best when he's the fighter not the defender. Its a lot easier to mobilise a "this country is being run badly" vote from out of office than it is from the White House you lead.

At this point I feel like we are screwed in general. Trump likely in again, Le Pen winning in France and Germany looking likely to move right. I feel as though we have majorly shifted in the west and a lot of progress will fade. We are giving our enemies in the East exactly what they want, I’m nervous for what’s to come.

We need to think long term like Republicans did and think of the Supreme Court seats that will come up during his second term. we need 2 more seats for majority and could possibly get them , I know hes not as fast as 2016/2012 Joe but hes surrounded by good people and he could hand over the riens to Kamala after winning or something. They want US to not vote and be down about Biden. Polls mean nothing and we have many weeks to go,lets go out there and get people to vote BLUE up and down the ballot. Lets win this for Supreme Court seats so rights cannot be taken away and Gay marriage be rolled back.

What we are seeing right now is the usual pendulum shift and a lot of pushback against unpopular globalist policies. It is no coincidence that right wing party has gained so much traction in the french elections.

Authoritarians have always exploited political chaos and international tension to bring themselves to power because the whole appeal of authoritarians is "strong leadership" that can cut through the red tape and solve things
