Anderson123 35,599
Happier Than Ever is still a great album from start to finish but I get what she means. If it has “fillers” they’re pretty damn good ones.
Lucas 24,027
It's funny cuz there's a swiftie in the replies complaining about Billie "already releasing extended versions 4 days after album release"... like Taylor isn't the most desesperate obsessed with chart fraud in the industry

Or 16 songs are okay if just split in two albums released one immediately after the other? On a serious note: it can't be only a matter of number of songs (without considering for example the lenght...). It's like a book: for me writing 500 pages would be too much (I don't have THAT much to say), but if you're Tolkien, c'mon, those are the back cover. i have the feeling the second album might not different songs but the same songs in a completely different soundscape... and maybe that counts to the sales of the first one and not as seperate... 1
StrawberryBlond 14,094
I think people who have been waiting years for their fave to release an album would disagree with you there. I hate it when artists take extended breaks with no stand-alone singles in between and return with 10 tracks and no bonus content. Only somewhat acceptable if every track is 4/5+ minutes. Or they follow it up a year or so later. And not all long albums boast lots of filler. But understandably, those who make a point of releasing bloated projects every 2 years with a bunch of tracks that should've ended up on the cutting room floor but they just wanted those streaming numbers. And I don't think she's solely talking about Taylor here, I can name at least 5 other singers off the top of my head who make a habit of doing this (it's especially frequent in the rap community). 1
M i K E Y 7,296
Depends on the content I rather have an album of 8-10 good songs than a half assed record that consist of 2 bangers and 20 fillers NO DUCT TAPE - NO MISSON
bionic 41,952
She's right. Standard album should be 13 songs max. Extended editions 18 max. Miss me with flop remixes as bonus tracks buy bionic

If the artist cares enough about their projects, the length doesn't impact the quality. It's wild that people are asking to receive less music from musicians they like. Attention spans have been eviscerated and it's embarrassing. If Gaga serves 10 tracks on LG7 I will R I O T. If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

SharGaga 2,906
She's so pretentious I can't. If they're all quality songs who's complaining honestly? If she can't come up with a filler free 16 track album that's on her. Renaissance is a perfect 16 track album. Is this why she's stitching so many songs on this record?

It has to be relative to how long the artist has been away as far as I'm concerned. Of course, that doesn't mean a decade break requires 50 tracks or anything ridiculous like that (no one wants to slog through an album the length of one of Chris Brown's latest projects) but I need an album that I can digest longer than it would take me to get through a half hour lunch break if you've been gone for a considerable length of time. I get that artists only want to be put out the tracks that genuinely inspired them and if that was only 10 (or less), then so be it. But you have to push yourself if you really let your fanbase wait. I'm sure Rihanna fans wouldn't mind a Taylor Swift double album right about now and they have every right to want that.
Yaaaas Gaga 813
Definite shade towards Taylor here and you can't really blame her. I remember when I used to think 15 songs on an album was a lot, now that seems short. I think 10-12 songs, no more than 60 minutes long in total, is a perfect album. Once you start getting to 15, 20 or 33 then it's a bit a piss take and a project that I sadly don't have time for.
Gorehound 3,649
Well I personally like large albums with lots of songs. If I love the album and the artist, I want as much as I can off them. But that's just my preference I'm fine, Ta
NewYorkGirl 1,294
Sorry Bill, but some artists can actually make 16 quality songs. My. Lawyer. Liked. That.
