ImAnEnigma26 153
First off, I just wanna start by saying that I love Chromatica and everything it stands for, but I don't think it reached its full potential. I'm just being a nit-picky super fan in this thread cause hey its Gaga Daily. How would you change Chromatica? Your answer could have to do with the sound of the album, the visuals/music videos, the promo rollout etc. Here is how I would change the album/single rollout: 1. Chromatica 1 2. Alice 3. Replay - Lead single. "Replay" should have been the lead hands down. It's an infectious dance-pop anthem that is so Gaga, but like a fresh version of Gaga that the world hadn't heard yet. 4. Rain on Me with "Ariana Grande" - 2nd Single. 5. Free Woman - 3rd single (with better, more dynamic and interesting production. This song has SO much potential. It has all the bones of a hit, but unfortunately Bloodpop made the instrumentals sound like an Ozempic commercial) 6. Chromatica II 7. 911 - 4th single. 8. Plastic Doll 9. Sour Candy with Blackpink 10. Enigma 11. Chromatica III 12. Sine from Above with Elton John (Again, with production that is a little more interesting) 13. 1000 Doves (more stripped down, get rid of the Ozempic commercial vibes) 14. Babylon - 5th single. (KEEP THE "My ears are burning up, you sure like to talk a lot, I heard about all the things you said..." part of the chorus. Such a yummy little hook.) Spoiler Sorry but "Stupid Love" and "Fun Tonight" can go die in a ditch. The two worst songs on the album imo 2 1
Luke78619 22,948
I would rearrange the tracklist a little so it was 1. Stupid Love 2. Fun Tonight and that’s it. insta: good_lukeing | I have nothing else to promote 1 5
Anderson123 35,854
1st single: Stupid Love 2nd: Rain On Me 3rd: Sour Candy Alice/Enigma/Replay mini film 4th single: Babylon I don’t like Plastic Doll and Free Woman is such a dull song but wouldn’t delete them anyway.
Lucas 24,283
I'd just scrap Stupid Love from the album and make the songs longer with real choruses, bridges verses... instead of the quick tiktok formula. It's still a really strong album imo, it's unfortunate that the album's potential was wasted because of covid. 6
PartySick 145,850
I've made these same points a million times but I never get tired of ranting Chromatica I - love it Alice - Finish making the song. Find more original sounding percussion and skip the sample kits (apply that to every song, actually). Write a second verse and a better hook. Stupid Love - Actually not many notes, it's a good dance song. Rain on Me - It needs something more. Not sure what but it sounds rushed. Songs this good shouldn't be scared to hang around for longer than 3 minutes. Free Woman - LMAO. Scrap that god awful album version and finish cleaning up the incredible demo. Retain the distorted vocal synth, scrap the unnecessary dance break in favor of a powerful "BE. FREE.", keep/expand on the bridge, have the belts come at a climactic build to and after a third chorus instead of during the second "chorus". Fun Tonight - Again, I don't understand why this song has a dance break. I do like it for the most part though. Chromatica II - no notes 911 - Flesh out the production, it feels flat. Write an actual chorus, turn the "my biggest enemy is me" bit into a post chorus ala "p-p-p poker face", keep and expand the bridge from the demo, and don't be scared to let a song exist for longer than 2.5 minutes. There's a member here that I connected with on Telegram that made a 6 minute version of 911 and I exclusively listen to that now because it's amazing. Plastic Doll - Not many notes actually one of my favorite songs, I love the production (thanks, Skrillex) and it slots in well with songs like Donatella or The Fame. Cute, campy bops. Sour Candy - Just scrap the song entirely. Enigma - I wish it were longer and the bass was reflected with a wide sounding electric guitar like the live version is. This is the kind of song you put a dance break in! That reprise at TCB is probably my favorite part of the show. Replay - Like nearly every other song, it's missing something. The sample is great but other than that, the production feels flat and empty. Ever since I mixed the two myself, I see Replay as the "Swine of Chromatica", but Swine is just...better? Chromatica III - My favorite one, no notes. Love it with or without the snares. Sine From Above - My former favorite track because it actually feels fleshed out a bit. It's interesting to listen to, even though it does replace a chorus with a dance break, and that drum and bass ending was shocking but in a good way. 1000 Doves - Should have remained a piano ballad because now it just sounds like someone put Gaga's lyrics on top of a Bloodpop/Bieber song from 2014. Babylon - YET AGAIN too much is cut out. Idk why they were so scared to let a track spin for longer than a couple minutes. I was listening to Janet again earlier and realized so many of her songs are basically "over" at the 3/4 minutes mark but they keep going for another minute or two...or three. They vibe, they live, they breathe. Chromatica does exactly none of this. It gets in, briefly screams why it's there, then evacuates like the building's on fire. Her worst album by far imho. Here's hoping she and her people aren't so scared to let music simmer for LG7. 4 2

That's my hottest take for this album. It would make a good visual album though if she actually followed through with the fantasy alien planet narrative. I've even written a story myself centered around it
Noir 14,935
Firstly, I feel like this tracklist flows way way better than the original and I only listen to the album now in its' entirety, this way... Spoiler 01. CHROMATICA I 02. ALICE 03. RAIN ON ME (with Ariana Grande) 04. FREE WOMAN 05. ENIGMA 06. CHROMATICA II 07. 911 08. REPLAY 09. SOUR CANDY (with Blackpink) 10. PLASTIC DOLL 11. CHROMATICA III 12. SINE FROM ABOVE (with Elton John) 13. STUPID LOVE 14. 1000 DOVES 15. BABYLON Target Exclusive Tracks (released on Spotify 6 months-1 year later) : 16. LOVE ME RIGHT 17. FUN TONIGHT 18. 1000 DOVES (Piano Version) Singles (and videos for all) : 1. Alice (2020 February) ...perfect album opener, perfect lead single. Promo Single: Stupid Love (2020 April) ...released on original Chromatica release date as a 'treat', we'd already heard it so it had no business being the lead. 2. Rain On Me (2020 May) Chromatica 'Album Release' (2020 May) 3. Free Woman (2020 August) ...with the original demo 'I just want to be be be be be be be free forever baby' still in. Think this would be perfect end of summer song that the locals would eat up. Promo Single: Chromatica II/911 (2020 September) ...released as it was originally, think this was my favourite part of era and felt Gaga's ideas got to flourish, without the pressure of being a commercial single. 4. Sour Candy (2021 January) ...new year, fresh start and would've done well on charts if the Gaga/BP fanbases teamed up. I imagine it would be 800m+ streams today, if it were a single today, it's 360m as a promo single already. 5. Replay (2021 April) ...deserved to thrive as a single, probably would've flopped as a single given it's 5th in line, but fans would've deserved it and I believe the streams would've still done relatively well. 6. Babylon (2021 June) ...last single and final goodbye to the era. I also would be here for Bree Runway's version getting a video for the Dawn of Chromatica released drop later that year... would've been cool even if Gaga was not in the video at all. freebit 6,119
Free Woman and 1000 Doves would've been spruced up with different production, or just keep the piano version of 1000 Doves. As it is, 1000 Doves sounds too much like the end of a Sex and the City episode outro as Carrie walks along the balmy NYC streets circa 2001 (now this just sounds appealingly nostalgic instead of dated, perhaps I am wrong? IDK, lol). Free Woman's production just lacked some sauce. Stupid Love would be a hidden track at the very end. A euphoric ending and everyone would be praising it.
Rifek 51,753
Love Me Right should be included in the original tracklist + released as promo single. Singles: 1. Alice Promo single: Love Me Right / Babylon / Free Woman 2. Rain On Me ft. Ariana 3. 911 / Replay 4. Sour Candy ft. Black Pink and the final product of Free Woman should be the demo version. warhol killer 8,570
The little manager inside me love these kinds of threads. I'd like to focus more on the single releases: Chromatica I / Alice Rain On Me with Ariana Grande Chromatica II / 911! *promo single* Replay Babylon I think 4 singles with 1 promo is enough for this album. Maybe a video for Sour Candy as a gift would be fun ala John Wayne. Babylon would be the tour single. warhol killer ✴ GAGA¹⁵ 1
Plastic Flower 3,787
I would scrap the tribes but keep the color palettes for every song. That didn't go anywhere. Drop it
