She’s a grower…. The numbers will improve.

Even Houdini didn’t debut high but stayed on BBH100 for 23 weeks (displaced by Taylor bomb; might climb back next week…if not recurrent or whatever)

An album turning into a grower is almost impossible. The numbers will just keep going down. The gays are not embracing the album at all. Or the singles 🥴

hope she learned her lesson and work harder for DL4

i wish her so much this record is good. It's sounds like murder on the dancefloor on acid, and the more i listen to it the more i feel the vibe of the seventies she wanted for it

edit : interresting coz i'm listening r now on youtube and i have zero add (it's been three *4 songs already)... seems like she wanted to draw people to listen to it.

I don't think she will. I think in Stan world her debut numbers will probably be somewhat underwhelming, but by all other viewpoints I don't think the same can be said. She has a legacy and a GP pull with innate interest when she puts out new music. It's talked about on talk shows and in morning segments on the news, whether she comes to join those talks or not.

Well y'all better buy those 25 vinyl variants, CDs and cassettes she's doing for LG7. We're not going to settle for those Spotify streams.

Are you blaming Taylor for this? :ladyhaha:

This album is only gonna go worse. A single can have some longevity but if an album doesn't catch people attention... Bye

The critique that "these are Future Nostalgia leftovers" and that "it all sounds the same" is lazy.

I actually really love the light, summery aesthetic (visually and sonically) of Radical Optimism. It's a lot more "airy" than Future Nostalgia which was quite commanding. I understand why it may be a let down for people who loved her work on FN, because just sonically it isn't as bold, but I also don't think RO is some step back or downgrade.

THIS. It's the laziest critique and honestly RO as a whole sounds nothing like FN, the only song that kinda comes close to that true nu-disco sound of FN is Illusion, but it still has the bright summery airy vibe that makes it feel different.

I understand why the album is a letdown for some, but tbh I got it the first time, these songs are so good! not AOTY by any means, but a solid very fun pop album that just needs to be listened to in the sunshine

7th (!!!) biggest artist on Spotify right now and theres no excuse for these numbers - it’s a bomb :toofunny:

After FN and Dance the Night Away, Houdini was a cute lil hit. But didn’t live up to those expectations.

Training Season is a Judas (at its time of release :air:).

Illusion was a non-event.

Nothing else from this album screams “hit” - but who knows. Levitating pulled tragic debut numbers and ended up the biggest single from FN - and that era already had huge hits DSN and BMH to speak for it. :air:

i mean the album isn't as *fun* as her previous works, not a lot of excitement...

Falling Forever was a highlight but all the singles are the high energy songs that kinda stick out

mother, what must i do?

this is so strange to me! the album is genuinely good, it was just poorly marketed imo
