#91 End Of An Era — 1,791,147
#184 Falling Forever — 1,382,422

Indeed :traumatica:

I didn't listen the album yet but the numbers are not very good. Dua is one of very few pop girls that still try to make eras happen - I hope this doesn't mean she's going to take it down several notches for her next era :partysick:

I would normally say that she never had big debuts but considering her singles' run this era... well :franminervini:

Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something?

Wish she had the Chromatica numbers at least :bradley:

Wow, I didn't realise Chromatica had the 3rd biggest debut for a female album. Taylor's Version(s), Midnights and TTPD will make it impossible for Gaga, or probably any artist, to break the top 3 again.

Ok. After spending time with the album I’ve come to  the conclusion that it was a bad career move. The sound is good but It’s not fresh, we’ve heard it before somewhere else.
no innovation , no urgency, no excitement. Tragic single release, poorly executed aesthetics.
I also blame the expectations on her constant hyping, there’s was nothing to hype.
I hope she learns her lesson, in shock nobody along the way told her this wasn’t IT.
nobody will remember this album next week.
She gave us a “Cafe Del Mar” album that folk will play at resorts and it’s frankly unmemorable.

The way it's about 12 Millions less streams than FN, some people might have already got put off from the singles and didn't bother to check the album anymore :enigma:

I honestly really like the album, while not really anticipating it all that much. I went out and bought the lenticular sleeve CD too cause I think the packaging is really great. Actually, her album packaging for the CD reminds me a lot of the late 90s/early 00s and I think that's intentional. The critique that "these are Future Nostalgia leftovers" and that "it all sounds the same" is lazy. Disco as a genre has range, has existed for decades and evolved, and I think Future Nostalgia and Radical Optimism pull from different eras of the genre. I mean, I'd hate to see if Twitter and social media existed when Kylie went from Light Years to Fever (two disco-inspired albums that pull from very different inspirations within the genre).

I actually really love the light, summery aesthetic (visually and sonically) of Radical Optimism. It's a lot more "airy" than Future Nostalgia which was quite commanding. I understand why it may be a let down for people who loved her work on FN, because just sonically it isn't as bold, but I also don't think RO is some step back or downgrade. I think she's just in her third album "we're gonna beat on her" era (cause I'm sorry, the hate train is kind of bizarre), I think she's not promoting it as strenuously as her last album, and I think having her dad as a manger doesn't do her favors. I think this is one of those album that in five years everyone will look at and say "why did we let this flop" and "why did people hate on this" and whatever revisionary retrospective people like to cyclically do...

Props to her for doing the era schedule like before with 3 music videos before album drop. Maybe Houdini in February and then album in April/May with 2nd single that day could've been a better move because it feels like there was no hype other than what I see on Twitter.

People also need to remember that Future Nostalgia was released at a point in the pandemic where EVERYONE was at home and had nothing else to do but watch TV and stream music. But yes Don't Start Now had a much better reception than any singles from Radical. Such a shame because it's actually a good album. I'm sure that if she decides to do a tour for it, tickets will still sell.

That’s not great…. Let’s see if it’ll have any kind of longevity.

I think Gaga is guaranteed to have at least 30M for a 10 track short album :partysick: with 16 or so tracks, I'd expect 50M minimum :partysick:

Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something?

Mister G

I mean this album just didn't do much for me this time. I couldn't connect with it and only a few tracks stood out.

Well, the album is really a flop, isn't it...

Singles may be getting played on radios (I only heard Houdini on the radio) but meh. I feel bad for her

LG7? CANCELLED

She’s a grower…. The numbers will improve.

Even Houdini didn’t debut high but stayed on BBH100 for 23 weeks (displaced by Taylor bomb; might climb back next week…if not recurrent or whatever)
