doppelganger 3,854
I'm surprised no one said this: "Why do you look so good in those jeans? Why'd you come around me with an ass like that?" MY personal least fav is : "We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP, ARTPOP, ARTPOP)"

I think she has just as much of a right to be unhappy about her own lack of privacy, security, and freedom as any poverty stricken person has to complain about hunger or living paycheck to paycheck. One is absolutely objectively harder but we all have our issues

bim 371
I’m surprised how many people dislike the boys boys boys bridge! For me that’s peak camp with how she sings it and the whole vibe of the fame in general. I just picture her being a little trash glam blonde New Yorker twirling gum in her finger flirting with some boy in a divey lower east side bar channeling her inner paris Hilton and saying, you can take me home but you’re buying me breakfast. And she’s still in bed wearing just her panties and stilettos when said boy returns from the bodega with breakfast sandwiches in hand. I never took that lyric too seriously and it cracks me up and I find it genius in how silly and joyous it is. Kind of like bluffin’ with my muffin’, I can’t think of a more clever way to write about pretending to be sexually into someone when you’re really not. I miss that silly side of her and hope she brings it back to a degree on a future album. 1 1
HelloHangoverz 15,542
I've always thought "put your hands up make em touch" was a very clunky way to encourage an audience to clap lmao Edited April 25 by HelloHangoverz my head is filled with broken mirrors, so many I can't look away

I was around the entire era/pre-era and don't remember this at all, yet you're the 3rd person I've seen say this recently... 4 hours ago, PartySick said: Blah, it sits in my notes app in the draft phase But basically, my take on Joanne is a narrative from beginning to end based on what she said at the JWT about not knowing her real dad because the pain of losing Joanne changed him so deeply he became a different person. It starts with a painful experience (Diamond Heart) and she goes through different stages of grief and coping. Denial (A-Yo), Bargaining (Joanne), self destruction and addiction (John Wayne), self indulgence and medication (Dancin' in Circles), anger (Perfect Illusion), Depression (Million Reasons), and apathy (Sinner's Prayer). Before finding support and being supportive of others (Come to Mama, Hey Girl), even as pain continues to come (Angel Down). She has healthier ways of coping and a support system (Grigio Girls). Then by the last song (Just Another Day) she's a healthier person that can take life as it comes and not be demolished by it. The whole project resonates with me so deeply This is so beautiful! The irony being that all that work she did to heal was wiped away apparently bc we got Chromatica It's crazy how this woman has been trying to heal for 3 albums now 1 hour ago, The Z said: I was replying to your comment talking about the meaning since you said they all made sense I do understand the metaphors and everything, it’s just the way it’s written that bothers me For example the Fun Tonight line about the fame, I understand what it means but the way it’s worded is not it imo, it sounds childish af And about the dancefloor line, it’s about the grammar, it’s either your dancefloor OR the dancefloor you fought for, not YOUR dancefloor you fought for. I don’t even speak english but I can’t unhear it The dancefloor line makes total sense though Like replace it with literally any other noun This is my banana I fought for This is my house I fought for This is my cyber truck I fought for This is my dancefloor I fought for makes total sense as it can be literal for her story and her struggles and finally being able to dance after all her hard work and what's she's overcome If we are to believe what she says about her writing it for the trans community () it can be about them overcoming their struggles in this world and finally being able to dance after all the trials and tribulations (AND/OR LGBTQ+ as a whole let's be real) It can have a lot of different interpretations but I'm struggling to see how it doesn't make sense for you Edited April 25 by BlingNotTheMusic https://discord.gg/hausofdelulu 1 1

Hello, friend. I’m also a big fan of plastic doll I find the bridge to be iconic. I’ve always interpreted it as being almost intentionally childish/mocking in sound to make a point about how silly people sound with how they treat her. It’s like how everything she would do she’d get torn down for by fans and critics and the public, and how people only focused on the superficial aspects of her. I love the juxtaposition in her tone from the kind of campy bridge to the chorus from the gut saying how much it hurts.
Bling 31,039
LOVING all the harsh honesty in this thread about Chromatica, it's deserved and I often feel in the minority when critiquing it as Gaga's safest, least daring and original project. I get all that but as someone who is only a few years younger than Gaga, I can't take this song seriously, sonically nor lyrically. It really just sounds like something from Kidz Bop and no analyzing of the lyrics or sound is going to wipe that from my brain https://discord.gg/hausofdelulu
