The never-ending discussion of the “advertised starting time” is foolish. If an opening act (in M’s case, a DJ) gets on stage around the time that’s on the ticket, the show has technically begun. There are no advertised starting times for Madonna particularly - or a proposed ending time either. Plus there’s just common sense - this exact situation is VERY often the case for many other artists - Gaga included. And in addition, Madonna is known to be a late performer for decades now. AND most importantly, she does NOT lip sync anything in the show apart from the spoken word parts during Erotica and JML. This whole thing just screams rich, white, bitter gays acting super entitled imo.
Addison Rae 16,755
something feels insidious about a multi millionaire intentionally delaying concerts that she’s making tons and tons of money from, while there are people waiting there who are 99% of the time working 9-5 jobs and are living paycheck to paycheck sitting on his lap sipping diet pepsi
timdrake 1,050
It's hella lame to start 2 hours after advertised showtime, especially if you're keeping the venue inordinately warm. This can throw off so many transportation plans for the audience, and it's just inconsiderate. If you have stan-culture brain of course you're just going to be like "she's a legend, she can do no wrong, etc etc etc" but it's rude and disrespectful to the audience, and at the end of the day, it is indeed false advertising. At this point, they are knowingly advertising a false start time. This is one of the reasons I'm not a big concert-goer. Literally no one I admire would be worth sitting/standing in a crowded hot room for, and for two hours before I can even see the advertised artist. I'm not making myself uncomfortable, and at astronomical prices, just to get a glimpse of someone in person.

Also, jealous omg. That tour was so good. I really regret not going. @Didymus @Helxig I now realize my post could be taken the wrong way. I should have started by saying I feel badly for those who had a bad experience at a Madonna concert, before going on to explain my good experience. I have been a fan of Madonna from her first album in 1983 to the present. For decades I hadn't attended concerts of any of my faves. When I had the opportunity to attend Madame X, I was thrilled at the chance to finally see her live in concert. I knew the chances of her actually making that date (December 7, 2019) were less than 50-50 because she cancelled the three previous dates ( Nov. 30, Dec 1, Dec 2) in Boston due to injury. But just the chance to see her made it worthwhile to make the 4-hour drive to Philadelphia, rent a hotel room, take a subway, and having spent a fortune for front row seats in the mezzanine. I know she was often two hours late, but showed up on time in case she happened to be on time at that concert. The people around me discussed many things during the two hour wait, including wondering if the clean-up crew knew they would be there an extra 2 hours. I'm sure many fans and venue workers are greatly inconvenienced when Madonna is so late and I don't blame them for being very angry. I'm sure those that knew the history of Madonna being so late took that into consideration when they made their plans. But I'm sure many people were unaware. It turned out I was incredibly lucky. Later in the tour Madonna cancelled 10 other dates due to injury, starting with Dec. 22. The concert I regret not attending is Gaga's BTWB. I passed up the opportunity to attend that, and have been kicking myself ever since. I was incredibly stupid. I can blame it on the fact that I hadn't yet become a concertaholic, but that's just rationalization. I live outside the space time continuum. Monster647 407
Madonna is never on time. I feel like going to Madonna concert venue earlier than at least one hour after the advertised show start is like Shrek drinking the water that is brought out for him to clean his hands with in the second movie
KindnessPunk 1,969
At my show, people weren’t in their seats until a few minutes before the show started (10:20 ish) Doors opened at 7:30 and people kept on trickling in from then on. I can understand being slightly upset, but I think they wait til the arena is full and people are in their seats to start the show. Like imagine the artist coming on when many people are still walking it, it kills the vibe in my opinion. When I saw Gaga she didn’t come on til 9PM. A friend of mine recently saw Drake and he also didn’t come on til 9:30/10. Idk I feel like artists always go on later than the posted start time, not saying its ok but its kinda the norm no? NCgaga 4,324
Now I love Madonna and know she is the Queen- but- She has been known to be very self absorbent and dismissive of other people. It seems on brand that she would be late for every venue, not caring that there are people their literally paying two paychecks to see her. I feel like it’s a performer’s responsibility to be on time- let alone a billionaire performer.

And I'm sorry if I came across a bit too intense.. I do that sometimes. I wasn't trying to attack you. I'm glad you had such a great experience, it sounds really fun and reminds me of some of the Gaga concerts experiences I've had! I've gone to extreme measures to see Gaga too and met other nice people I was so lucky I got to go to the BTW ball and somehow my friend and I were front row. One of the few times I've been on barricade. It was a life changing experience, literally, and made me a super stan. I really regret not going to the Monster Ball. I wasn't a very casual fan until BTW so when a friend of mine asked me to go with them I said no worst decision ever and I regret it so much. But I was so young and stupid. If only we could go back I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
