Bots are not like viruses, they don't appear out of nowhere. PEOPLE creates them. People with money. They will pay Twitter whatever charge they ask. Bots won't go anywhere because Melon is a dumb POS who fired 90% of the programmers, including the ones in charge of getting rid of bots, because he doesn't know how to manage a company.

There were barely bots before Melon, and everything was free.

It's a terrible user experience now with the amount of bots. You click a tweet & only 0.2% of replies are actually related to the content. Such a mess of a site. Surely there's a better way to clean up the site. I feel it has lost it's way a bit too much now to even bring back most e'X' - users. My apologies

Ironic part is the bots were nowhere near this bad pre-Elon. The site has become exponentially worse under him. Maybe he shouldn't have fired all the employees.

A bit like a credit card check where the vendor charges $1 and then credits it back since a successful credit card charge verifies the person is over 18 and has a bank/address. 

This feels like a clear cash grab and a way to monetize, which I get, because Twitter/X is terrible at making money (even pre-Elon). But perhaps there's less lazy ways to do this.

Elon Musk uses this as an excuse to get your credit card, bank account real name information, including your birth date, your personal data. You shouldn't pay a penny, this penny will be interconnected with your real name, bank information, adress, etc. - all known by twitter and re-sold for more than a penny.

That would make it too cheap to deter bots. Thats cheaper than youtube ads per view and would not deter any bots
