You need to understand , marketing drugs/medicine is only legal in the United States. No other country in the world markets drugs. So for other folk it seems so out of line and not right. We Americans are so used to drug Commercials we don’t think twice about it.

It’s illegal to advertise medicine in other countries?

If yall want to be regarded as a “migraine community” then by all means do so and once again - my apologies for offending you. but don’t get it twisted, I understand migraines suck as I’ve experienced them myself and witnessed them in others. Just bc I commented on how Gaga’s language choice in selling her pills comes across as manipulative to me doesn’t mean I don’t sympathize.

I’m not apart of the community lololol but all I’m saying is diva… it’s not that deep. Fake outrage because music isn’t coming quick enough :ladyhaha:

I get where you're coming from, but drug commercials did not invent the use of the term community to refer to groups of people suffering from chronic (and usually incurable) conditions. You've never heard phrases like "the autism community" or "the HIV community"? Social support is an important component of disease management, so using terms like that to describe shared experiences is not something new.

Whether its usage is disingenuous for marketing purposes is a different story.

Yes-  I have heard of the hiv and the autism community before, but I have not heard of the migraine community and that’s the whole issue here lol. I will apologize for a third time… sorry 😬

Admittedly I have only ever had 2 migraines in my life and I don’t have a neurological disorder or underlying condition causing them like other ppl who experience them chronically. So for me what was just 2 bad days in my life, to others is a piece of their identity. And that’s why I interpreted “migraine community” as a manipulative language choice instead of just referencing something that exists. The fact that I and several other ppl were mass quoted and called out for being insensitive demonstrates how I guess many people are unaware “the migraine community” is a thing

etijer f*cking way, I’m sorry but I’m going to continue to laugh at this sh*t every time she posts a pharmaceutical ad. It’s embarrassing asf. Members of the migraine community can speak with their neurologists about their medication options they don’t need a celebrity selling them one

Yes. The United States and New Zealand are the only countries where drug makers are allowed to market prescription drugs directly to consumers. The U.S. consumer drug advertising boom on television began in 1997, when the FDA relaxed its guidelines relating to broadcast media.

so for anyone outside the USA her endorsement seems off. I frankly don’t mind it. I’m just trying to explain the fandoms reaction.

Does she think she’s being ground breaking by endorsing this? It’s embarrassing and cringe.

Seriously she’s ruining her reputation for MIGRAINE pills? Like at least promote a ground breaking break through chemotherapy drug or even something for her fibromyalgia. But migraine!? Seriously!? It’s hilarious. No one need advice on migraine pills lmfao we can get those in any pharmacy

While I agree with you that medications are insanely expensive and down with big pharma, I just wanted to add about the cost. The company has offered a coupon since it has come out and I haven’t paid a cent for Nurtec. Granted that will one day likely go away and my insurance will be like good luck. My neurologist has a stock pile of samples though and can always get more. So there is a way for people to get this cheaply (at least in the US), for now. I’m sure it’ll change at some point.

But like what’s so different about this particular pill?

THIS. This is what gets me frustrated. I can not find it normal that she seems to only break the silence to post these random ads.

I love to **** on Gaga for only ever posting ads. But she's had 15 posts since her last ad?

I understand the importance of this medicine, and I'm so glad it's helping people

I think it's just weird for anyone to be PAID to tell other people about a medicine that worked well for them :selena:
