I think this thread has made its clear that songs being overexposed is what leads them to be disliked. I don't think radio has the power that it once had however and most people don't even listen to the radio these days. People just stream exactly what they want to hear. Still annoying when a song starts to be played in an ad, though. It's usually always an ad that gets a lot of play or becomes a tv show's sponsor so you hear it even more than most. The marketing Adele got during 21 was insane. Even though she didn't do many live performances and let the music speak for itself, she was getting promoted. It's the only time in my life that I remember being hit over the head repeatedly with an artist's era. I remember how I was once aware of Adele multiple times in one day without seeking her out. It's understandable that this can turn the public against an artist. Maybe the modern way of extremely limited promo is a good thing as I don't get as worn down by a song's existence like I used to.

Sorry, don't get it. I thought the album was bland, soulless and overly repetitive. The first track is literally called Give Life Back To Music while an empty robotic voice gave it objectively no life. Doin' It Right literally consists of a robotic voice saying "If we doing it right, everybody will be dancing" from beginning to end. Blown away at how this got critical acclaim and hailed as genius. I'm not the biggest electro fan and especially not this kind of electro. To see this getting praised in the same year that AP came out (with passionate vocals, lyrics and beats), which got laughed at, makes me so mad. I hate that album with the passion of a thousand suns and nothing, not even the opinions of learned critics who apparently objectively know good music, will make me change my mind.

honestly i think shes a good example of how an artist can both be so successful but still hold relevancy all these years on. so many artists now (particularly those who sprout from tiktok etc) seem to just burn out in terms of relevancy.

i think beyonce put it best when she said that people dont make albums anymore. instead they just release a single, thrive for a short time, and then once theyve burnt out release another single. its artists like adele that know how to hold relevancy and an audience throughout the years (like gurl she has like a 15/16 year career and has only released 4 albums???)

i know for me, quick turnaround of works (dont come for me but taylor swift) make me sick of an artist. it feels like with her, shes fighting a battle to stay relevant for as long as she can, but the smart option would be to create albums that feel bodied and thought out (something like adele's work)
