I think it's definitely a country album but not the country that's on the radio and not strictly country.

It's all the sounds you hear driving through the south, so I'm gonna call this a ️Southern️ album.

This is my Hannah Montana™️ lipgloss.

Solid album. I love how it blends genres.

Various highlights. Definitely one of the most interesting albums of the year.

"BODYGUARD" is a hit single waiting to happen... I said the same about "Cuff It" first time I listen to it!

I guess TikTok would have to do its thing again...

that one, Jolene (that song is just a classic) and Ya Ya are easily the standouts for me

"LEVII'S JEANS" is a cute bop too!

I have to hand it to her, this is undoubtedly her most experimental work. While it may be a Beyonce album, it's the least removed from anything she's ever made. I also appreciate the immersive quality to it. I drifted off into another world while listening to it and it stayed with me long after it was done in a way her previous albums didn't. But the truly good songs are few and far between. Ameriican Requiem was decent, Ya Ya was great fun and I love how it fused genres, Jolene was an amazing re-write (though if the lyrics were changed to this extent, why wasn't it just listed as an original song with a heavy sample instead of giving it the exact same name?) and Daughter SLAYED me. Seriously one of the best songs she ever made and the darkest too (is Becky with the good hair still around? I'd run if I were her). But other than this...every other song just missed the mark for me, some of them were too long and outstayed their welcome and the heavy amount of interludes were completely unnecessary and for the most part added nothing except to stuff the already long tracklist. Maybe she's trying to reference Janet Jackson with all these interludes but most people find them annoying, especially if 2 run back to back. I was impressed by how country it was though, it wasn't pure fusion or mostly RnB with a country influence like I was expecting, she threw herself into this full force.

I may not be a big fan of it but it's undeniably interesting, so I can respect it. I don't know what the overall public and fan perception will be from this because it's not the Beyonce a lot of people want and I could see many being completely bewildered by these artistic choices and won't be able to vibe with it at all and wonder if they want to pay big money to see her sing these songs live. But again, I applaud her for knowing that but taking the risk anyway.

she changed lyrics to Jolene:noparty: probably to get credit for it:ladyhaha:

Dunno, but it's the only thing I don't like in that rendition...

Edit: Half way through the whole thing. I think it will be the frist Bey album i'll listen in full. Sure I will come back to it. I'll probably skip Spaghettii (I loathe rap and hip hop. Yeah. I know. Nobody's perfect). The best thing, way bey-ond the country spill is her f*cking VOICE! I always loved it but couldn't stand the style most of the time. Here it's totally heavenly ! These harmonies are fantastic...

Late to the party but I got a diamond heart

II most wanted and Riiverdance should be the other singles off the album, imo. II Most Wanted will probably be big and the most single friendly song left. Riiverdance is a good blend of genres and sound that she was going for and the most radio friendly track left, imo. Yaya and spaghetti are too short for radio and are moreso tik tok friendly. Yaya might work as an urban single but I’m skeptical.
