Its where all the "big" names go to play and its like doing Radio City Hall here in the states. Its just a "iconic" place

It's history more than anything. 
Opened in 1871. It's hosted everything from the Suffragettes, the 'Einstein Meeting', Muhammad Ali fights, it's associated school produced Laurence Olivier & Judi Dench, Pink Floyd got banned from the hall for their chaos. It's just a storied venue, and situated in a very culturally rich area of London. 

It's like how MSG is important to New Yorkers as a cultural center piece.  Or the Opry for Country musicians.

Adele also had one of the most well known live albums in history be filmed at this venue.
