It's now on par with the US' worst modern mass shooting (60 deaths), though I think at this point it can be labelled a terrorist attack rather than a shooting. Not that the label or comparisons matter, just putting it out there. Ugh... Whimsical bitch

When ISIS committed 6 simultaneous terrorist attacks in France, was it US/Israel too? Stop with the silly conspiracy theories. Yes they hate Russia, because Russia bombed them too in Syria. The U.S literally warned Russia about this months ago when they picked up intelligence related to it, under the "duty to warn" (just like they did with Iran too). But the FSB is busy hunting political/anti-war opponents and LGBTQ+ activists rather than focusing on terrorists and protecting their own citizens. So they were not only getting bombed by the anti-ISIS coalition at the time, but also Russia who intervened to save Bashar Al-Assad.

I'm so wrapped up in US centric politics and foreign relations, I figured Russia was buddies with them well, not buddies, but certainly not targets. There's too many moving parts in this world I fear. Whimsical bitch
Shadow 6,697
How very sad. Whatever the Russsian government does, the Russian people still deserve peace and safety. May the dead rest in peace and the injured heal as best as possible. ISIS-K did this? Explainer: Why did ISIS-K attack a Moscow theater? https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/why-did-isis-k-attack-moscow-theater-2024-03-23/ Stand in the light, cast your shadow. The MAGAs are latching onto it hard sharing that video of Trump saying "Obama created ISIS" and connecting their weird little dots to show that, for some reason, the most powerful military in human history by several orders of magnitude and their angry little bestie hired a bunch of random terrorists to attack Moscow...despite the fact that the US warned Russia and US citizens in Russia about the attack Annnnd there's Russians and Putin lovers all over Twitter saying they were actually Ukrainians dressed as stereotypical terrorists and ISIS just claimed responsibility 'cause "that's just what they do". A bunch of weird people with their own conclusions twisting and rationalizing until they can support that conclusion. But yeah, no, this benefits literally nobody. Honestly, years ago, I used to think that Alex Jones was a nutjob from a very fringe minority. It's crazy that in 2024, he's almost become the norm. People from both the left and the right are automatically drawn to conspiracy theories. And yes Putin will absolutely not take responsibility for the failure of the FSB (busy hunting political dissidents rather than terrorists). He'll weaponize this as a way to strengthen his grip on society, blame the West, who knows he might even blame Ukraine.

When some of us suggested it might be US, it's because they seem to share the same foes. They did bomb US personnel when Biden ordered the withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 as well though. US withdrawing seems to have made ISIS-K stronger as well despite the US bombing them a lot before. Not saying US/Israel are definitely involved, just an observation. Considering the CIA is shady as hell, I wouldn't automatically dismiss certain theories But I'm not looking to get into arguments cause mentioning Israel triggers people. I feel like this is some kind of common happening with superpowers... The US was warned a month before 9/11 and we used that attack to justify 20 years of occupation and destabilization in the middle east. Israel was warned about Hamas' attack and they used it to justify leveling Gaza and murdering tens of thousands of innocent people. Russia was warned about this attack...I wonder what they'll justify. 1 minute ago, Dennis said: Honestly, years ago, I used to think that Alex Jones was a nutjob from a very small crazy minority. Alex Jones is a total nut tbh, let's not give that freak even an iota of validity. I don't give weight to conspiracies at all and I don't think it's a left/right thing or even really a political thing. More so biological or psychological. Our monkey brains are simply not adapted to social media and the internet. Confirmation bias is a hell of a propaganda tool and it's basic psychology that we'd rather be proven right than have our beliefs challenged. Even the most reasonable people are susceptible to that, regardless of political leaning. So when you're given scant details and a little time to speculate, throw in some loud mouth with a narrative that you agree with, and bam. Weird theories. Morphine Prince 109,712
Ukraine immediately came out saying they weren't responsible so I'm curious to see if Putin will try to use this to escalate things in Ukraine.

I would think that the US literally warning about the attack confirms that our government had nothing to do with it though Unless there's some convoluted 3D chess move spanning two presidential administrations (Trump was the one who made the withdrawal deal with the Taliban) where the US was simultaneously double dealing with the Taliban and their non-governmental enemies. Which seems highly unlikely. It's Occam's razor for me tbh. I'll continue to believe this was a bunch of violent freaks with political or social goals that we don't currently know because that's how terrorists work. I ammmm interested to see how it all pans out though but I do think it's ridiculous to believe the US or Israel had anything to do with this.
