LateToCult 39,811
The new season is upon us and Variety just released a “blind prediction” for next year’s Oscar’s. For Best Actress they predict: Lady Gaga - “Joker: Folie à Deaux” (Warner Bros.) Marianne Jean-Baptiste - “Hard Truths” (Bleeker Street) Florence Pugh - “We Live in Time” (A24) Saoirse Ronan - “The Outrun” (*TBA*) Zendaya - “Challengers” (Amazon MGM Studios) Alternatives: Spoiler Alternates: Jodie Comer, “The Bikeriders” (Focus Features); Ryan Destiny, “Flint Strong” (Amazon MGM Studios); Nathalie Emmanuel, “Megalopolis” (No U.S. Distribution); Cynthia Erivo, “Wicked” (Universal Pictures); Lily Gladstone, “Fancy Dance” (Apple Original Films); Angelina Jolie, “Maria” (No U.S. Distribution); Jessica Lange, “Long Day’s Journey Into Night” (MGM); Natasha Lyonne, “His Three Daughters” (Netflix); Noémie Merlant, “Emmanuelle” (Neon); Jenna Ortega, “Klara and the Sun” (Sony Pictures); Daisy Ridley, “Young Woman and the Sea” (Walt Disney Pictures); Emma Stone, “Kinds of Kindness” (Searchlight Pictures); Tilda Swinton, “The End” (Neon) Purely off names and studios, I think Florence Pugh and Emma Stone have the potential of being tough competitors. Saoirse also strikes me as someone the Academy could get behind because of her proven track record of quality. Will solidify my opinion on her once I see what studio picks up her film. So excited for this season! Edited March 14 by LateToCult 6

Anderson123 35,874
Don't jinx it please. I mean I'm sure this is going to be incredible but they started with these articles about House of Gucci and stuff like that very early and they were confident an Academy Award nomination was 'on lock'. I feel like if the movie as a whole were good she probably would be nominated, she was the most talked and praised out of all the cast.

Looking back, there were early signs that House of Coochie was gonna be a disaster but we chose to ignore them. So far, Joker 2 seems to be on good footing. We’re not jinxing anything. The movie is done. The die is cast.

Ohhh it's not gonna flop. She was born to do this role, trust me! But yeah you're probably right.

LateToCult 39,811
For those interested, last years blind predictions were: Emma Stone - “Poor Things” (Searchlight) Fantasia Barrino - “The Color Purple” (Warner Bros.) Carrey Muligan - “Maestro” (Netflix) Annette Bening - “Nyad” (Netflix) Greta Lee - “Past Lives” (A24) Carrey and Annette went on to be nominated and Emma won. Fantasia was a solid choice but nobody could’ve predicted the train wreck pr nightmare that Color Purple turned out to be. Greta Lee was an ambitious choice. Lily Gladstone was a pleasant surprise that I don’t think anybody saw coming back then. 12 minutes ago, mamo said: house of gucci 2.0 coming soon! lol jk if i'm being honest since i'm very much into awards season etc, i'd predict as of now: Gaga jessica lange angelina jolie saoirse ronan jodie comer No Florence Pugh? She’s gonna be coming off Dune 2 hype, have A24 behind her, and Searchlight’s main actress will be Emma Stone, who already won so she may not be THE front runner again. I think the cards are stacked nicely in her favor.

I think the cards are stacked nicely in her favor. I actually don't know much about Florence's film but seeing as it's A24, i'll probably swap her around for someone else. I don't think Emma will be nominated again seeing as she just won but you never know! Jodie Comer and Saoirse Ronan's films have premiered already and had rave reviews. The other three actresses I chose are based mainly on statistics and status. Angelina's movie is another biopic directed by Pablo Larrain (his previous two films landed Natalie Portman and Kristen Stewart nominations), Jessica Lange is an industry legend and she won the Tony award for the same exact performance not too long ago and then there's Gaga who's apart of the highly anticipated Joker sequel. But we'll just have to wait and see how this all plays out! you can serve it to me ancient city style...
