Juanjo 2,284
It’s election year and, sadly, basic human rights are still being politicized. Also, the misinformation and extreme fear mongering is rampant online, with a vast amount of people believing everything they read. The Internet was too fast for boomers and a lot of Gen Xers. We just gotta stay strong and continue to fight for our right to exist freely and openly.

Dennis 8,391
it better not be a trend, I feel like the country is becoming more conservative again https://thehill.com/homenews/lgbtq/4526784-support-same-sex-marriage-dips-first-time-decade/ Support by religion: Majority approving: Non-Religious: 86% Jewish: 80% Catholics: 74% White Non-Evangelical Protestants: 74% Black Protestant: 52% Majority NOT approving: Mormons: 47% Muslims: 40% White Evangelicals: 37%

Support has been hovering around 70-75% for the past few years, so 71% is really neither shocking, a stark contrast, nor exceptionally low. Most states (except AK lmao) have an above 50% support, with quite a few trending closer to 60-70% We have forgotten our public MANNERS
Ladle Ghoulash 52,448
Title is somewhat misleading: Gallup’s highest on record was in 2021 (70%) and the support in this poll is higher than that (71%). I’m mostly saying this to reassure people that this could either be indicative of national support capping out at 71% or that this pollster may have gotten slightly higher results in the past, but that this number is largely consistent with what we’ve seen over the past few years. Could easily be a blip, but definitely is worth being aware of. https://news.gallup.com/poll/350486/record-high-support-same-sex-marriage.aspx We have forgotten our public MANNERS

Actually, I guarantee if a Dem house member drafted a bill that enshrined SSM rights into law, there'd be enough GOP support to pass it in both the house and senate and Biden would sign it immediately. Of course, there's the risk that a bill would elevate it to a debate topic rather than a settled issue and the Dems definitely want to use it and abortion rights as a scare tactic in the election Whimsical bitch

Killing SSM would make it even harder for them to compete in states that aren't 30%+ GOP margins Whimsical bitch
