First off, let’s not pretend like the HP series is some must-read, classic piece of literature. It’s fine, it just so happens that a lot of people read it as children and were enamored with a series that was atypical for the time. It holds a very nostalgia-heavy impact and is good entertainment that’s easy to binge-read—that’s pretty much it. 
 

Secondly, I would sincerely hope that people in a GGD thread are not actively supporting JK Rowling, a vocal and proud transphobe, in any way. It’s fine to say you enjoyed the books, but to imply that Rowling is entitled to some sort of protection or lenience because she wrote a kids’ series about wizards that happened to become popular is…in poor taste, to say the very least. Gaga’s works shaped the majority of who I am as a person today, but if she came out tomorrow and said “f*ck all trans people” I would no longer support her or any of her works in any way, shape, or form. It’s really that simple.

Harry Potter IS undoubtedly a classic piece of literature. This has got to be the worst take on HP I’ve ever read.
