I am not really sure how else to word it, but that isn't what I am saying.

I am saying that people who are far left (note I am only referring to far left; not the left as a whole) have an absolute way of thinking. This same way of thinking is seen with people who are on the far right, just with different beliefs.

Generally for those on the left, these beliefs and values manifest most around social issues in the world. Those on the far left, with an extreme leftist view, regard people in incredibly black and white frame, with their own beliefs and values being the judge cast judgement on others while holding them to their standards of value and beliefs.

Failing to meet the standard results in harassment and bullying, because they look at that person as if they committed some crime against humanity. The purity check in social views the people in the far, radical left put people through results in them demonizing that person for not aligning perfectly with that set of beliefs and values, which is possibly the most black and white view of the world one can have on that side of the political spectrum, and it causes nothing but a divide and hostility.

This has happened many times with people in my own life, and I'm sure others here have also experienced things similar. These people are the people in this video harassing someone who advocates on their behalf (but does not do so to their exact standards, so they are then faced with the harassment shown).

That's why I specified that it is the far left doing the pushing in my post. Nowhere did I say that people are seeing this and then going to become republicans as a reaction to extremists in a political party. That exists in both sides of the political spectrum.

He's not wrong though. Most of us here lean left, some more than others.

But the excesses of the left push people to the center-left, which honestly happened to me. I can no longer see myself as a "leftist", when the most prominent leftists have been engaging in very problematic behavior lately.

I totally get you, and you make a lot of sense. I just… would like to see more people sour on individuals rather than having randos like these sour them on a mostly correct and productive world view. 

Not all far leftists are like that… so I guess when I said “form a world view” (maybe a bit too spicy), I meant that make sure you know your stuff so well you realize it’s too important to let rude harassment like this shake your confidence in it - despite the online chatter. 

Honestly as someone who actually did have a right wing era for like a year… there’s literally nothing of value over there anyway. People are just wrong, scared and delusional - and scarily enough, they kinda like it that way…

Well he’s a bit messy, but I know what he’s talking about, and essentially he’s on about how there’s 3 cases of rape on 10/7 that the NYT reported on - that the families/communities there dispute ever happening.

This isn’t rape apologia… saying something didn’t happen isn’t the same as justifying said action.

He could have worded it better but he’s a twitch streamer like he’s prominent because he’s fun (among other things)

This isn't about the NYT. The United Nations itself investigated and found with "clear and convincing" evidence that rape happened.

It's time for people to put this to rest and stop grasping at straws.

This is literally mirroring far-right behavior whenever they attack the victims that accuse Trump and try to find little details to cast doubt even when the evidence is there.

And I love when Israeli local says something contradictory to NYT, we take his words as gospel, but when the VICTIMS themselves say they were assaulted for example, all of a sudden, no we cant take them seriously because they're "israeli".

No one is saying Hamas didn’t rape anyone. I brought up the NYT bc they published a piece and their exact 3 accounts were literally rebuked by the families and local leaders from the community themselves.

I also share this view point. Both far left and far right to me are nausiating ppl to deal with

 

They both tend to be extremely self-righteous and both tend to think their view points are 100% factually the only correct ways in life (thats especially ironic for the far left since they are supposed to be the open minded and accepting ones yet in reality thats only true if u think exactly like them, at least the far right dont hide their intolerance)

 

Lastly i hate how both far left and far right seen to genuinely enjoy fights, going full on SJW mode and sitting at the edge of their seat for every possible oppurtunity to turn it into a war.

So I know this thread is about people on the left criticizing AOC, but can we as a group (on GGD) at least attempt to band together against the right these next few months until after the election instead of throwing more shade at the one political party that's not guaranteed to immediately push us into full blown authoritarianism? Can we do that? Can we fake some solidarity until mid-November? Because all this vitriol on top of the existing vitriol surely isn't gonna help our case. 

The "far-left" might be crusty and annoying but they're at least trying to push for social safety nets, progressive policies, and equity. Meanwhile the far right is turning this country into an open-air snake handling revival. The horseshoe theory talk is exhaustingly inaccurate.
