This was very much expected. I'd say the feeling before the hearing waa that it was 80/20 in favour of overturning Colorado. Given the line of questioning at the hearing itself, that became 99/1 post-hearing.

My gut feeling was that I was dubious about the disqualification. Someone on here did explain the rationale to me, i.e. that Trump was not being found guilty of a crime, he was simply being found to be disqualified from a ballot, and I get that, nevertheless .... dubious. It smacked of clutching at straws imo. When the clause was inserted I understand that its objective was to disqualify civil war rebels. I doubt if it was envisaged that a sitting president would be involved in insurrection. Imo it shouldn't have been necessary to go casting around for some means of keeping him off the ballot. He should have been impeached, arrested, tried and imprisoned three years ago. The fact that that didn't happen is the real issue, not this predictable decision by SCOTUS.

SCOTUS is the definition of nightmare. It's terrifying. He set this all up so that nothing can come his way, even the law. It's unbelievable.

They need to expand the court to render it basically useless. And it shouldn’t be lifetime appointments
