Beyoncé was considered/cast to star next to an unnamed male lead in the version of ASIB that was supposed to be directed by Clint Eastwood. Then Clint backed out I think, and the project went to Bradley who apparently wanted to cast 98 people in that room before Gaga. So they are not wrong, but that's not the whole truth apparently 

All this also reminds me of Barbra shading Gaga's ASIB, saying it was too close to hers and it should've been Bey and Will Smith after giving her blessing to Gaga  

Beyoncé is one of the most talented entertainers the world has ever seen but let's not try to make Gaga (who is just as talented and legendary) look like someone that gets her leftovers

He just gave one interview didn't he, about two weeks ago ? And now it's being regurgitated as if he's said it loads of times, but it was just one interview ? Correct me if I'm wrong.

And so what if he was originally trying to cast Beyonce ? I'm sure she was a much more obvious pick than Gaga at the time. I think he would have been casting during the period when Gaga was still trying to pick herself up off the floor.

Bradley also said this in the same interview:

"Then, he attended a benefit concert and heard Gaga sing. 'It just blew the doors off of the whole place, and it was in that moment where it was like, ‘That’s it. What was I even thinking?' Cooper remembered. 'And then I asked to meet her.'".

So let's cool it on Bradley, k. He is just answering the question that the journalists are asking him. If anything, be annoyed that journalists are constantly bringing up the same question.
