Alicia Keys voice crack edited out of Super Bowl Halftime Show

Standing out in a glimmering red ensemble that ruffled out into an elongated cape, Alicia Keys began her performance by launching into a high soprano that briefly morphed into a croak as the cape dropped. Clips of the botched note spread like wildfire across the internet as critics flocked to dissect it while fans of Keys ran to her defense.

In the aftermath, the NFL and Apple Music have edited the clam out of the re-uploaded Halftime show on YouTube, and the difference in Keys’ vocals is uncanny. Online, users have pointed out the polished editing with play-by-play comparisons of the live taping and the freshly re-uploaded, and pitch-corrected, show.

gaga and madonnas SNL skit got messed up on the live night of but YouTube uploaded a more polished rehearsal recording the skit

if I was Alicia I’d want the official HQ version to be showcasing me at my best .  Last night was just not if for Alicia and we know she can do better . Might as well upload a better version

The original "voice crack" really isnt that bad and its very brief. In fact i might have missed it entirely if it wasn't pointed out or at the very least not have thought much of it.

 

Must be exhausting being a celeb. The most tiny trivial mistakes or anything that isnt flawless = sudden dark shade gossip

Honestly why make a Grammy winning artist into a laughing stock? This can happen to anyone. It's bad luck. 

She could have auto tuned the live mic or lipsynched. We critique those things. But this is why people do it. In case of an unexpected bad showing.

yeah it's not that bad, i think editing it out is now gonna make way bigger a deal of it than if they just left it

I think the voice crack sounded beautiful, and real. It just proves she’s not lip synching. Hate to see they edited it out. Unfortunately we live in a world of “perfection”.

Yeah, I agree with the members above, the crack was totally fine, it don’t mind it being fixed but I don’t know why people laugh… it sure wouldn’t have happened to a performer who doesn’t sing live

Some people are way too harsh on Alicia. It happens and she's not the only one.

She's still an incredible musician who gives her absolute all live whether it's an arena or a small home setting.

I'm pretty sure if this was some superstar that y'all love to hate, such as Beyoncé or Taylor Swift, y'all would already post a whole paragraph on why the voice cracks is bad and why it is giving unprofessionalism.
