steven 5,240
No, Joanne had barely any impact culturally and is never really mentioned outside from this fanbase.
dimitristhe 1,526
I think Joanne is mainly a pop album with some Rock, Country and Americana influences. Is just another Gaga album with mixed genres but mainly is pop. If you think about it, the first artist who really brought country into the pop field was Madonna with Music. Joanne is not that innovative or ahead of its time. It definitely inspired a lot of artists to make a pop / country / americana / rock / electronic album, like Miley Cyrus, Kesha and Kylie Minogue. It’s no coincidence that they released the same kind of album just a year after Joanne. In my opinion the only Gaga album that can be considered ahead of its time is Born This Way. Every year the album has viral moments and it’s appreciated more now than when it was released back in 2011. When we're not together tell me everything's gonna be alright 3

Killa 15,350
Lol I know this mostly fun but just reminder that it came after some Americana revival and for example Alana shakes exploded in 2015 and had Grammies I think. And it’s not like we know what she was trying to do with that album.
WhiteHotForever 260
Perfect Illusion is still ahead of its time. It’s definitely one of my favorite songs of her and it doesn’t deserve the hate. 1 1

Could've been one of her best non-single songs but since it's a single, it's not just the same league as her other singles. That shouldn't diminish the pleasure you can derive from Perfect Illusion though!

A lot of tracks are a mesh of rock, country, folk, and/or Americana. This can be said for: - Diamond Heart (all of the above) - A-YO (rock, country, Americana) - Joanne (country, folk, Americana) - John Wayne (country, rock, in a pop package though) - Million Reasons (country, folk, Americana) - Sinner’s Prayer (country, folk, Americana) British social ladies with upturned pinkies, glasses clinking // xoxoTEANUS

Arcanum 4,708
I definitely remember tropical house songs with country influences. I kinda think Avicii was the pioneer, but no one can deny that Joanne set the tone for others girls (Kesha, Miley, Kylie) to go to that direction in a more polished way. What really mattered at the time of release of Joanne was that Gaga toned it down in an eventful way. However, it kinda reminds me of Trump election, so...
