How is it 2024 and we still haven't figured out how to have a society without populism? Why can't we call a spade a spade? Imagine a society where politicians are legally not allowed to lie. A society where if a politician says something, it's because science and logic is backing it up. Politics should not be a theatre. It’ll be close but I’m hoping Americans preserve Democracy otherwise that country will learn a hard lesson with lasting damage compared to last time. Iowa caucus had 14% turnout (apparently he brings people out 😂)with half voting for another candidate as people say. 7 / 10 Haley voters said they won’t vote for Trump if he is the candidate. Yes Joe has lost support but to say Trump is definitely on to win is laughable, there are massive cracks in his support. When the charges start rolling in it’ll be interesting to see what the view is nationally for the crucial swing voters. It’ll be a close election for sure but looking at how people still voted Dem in the mid terms etc with Joe having low popularity, Joe winning re-election seems quite likely. Polls change, it’s January, a lot can happen and the issues for Trump are only likely to get worse. Out of those 102,000, Trump got 53,000 votes, which is 14% of Republicans in Iowa. Whew. Just for the sake of turnout comparison, there are about 630,000 registered Democrats in Iowa and at the 2020 Dem caucus, about 180,000 showed up. Now, of course Biden only got 23,000 of those votes but he was one of six candidates at the time and came in fourth behind Buttigieg, Sanders, and Warren, who were all arguably more popular in Feb of 2020. Trump's competition is basically diet-Trump and a classic Republican woman...which is to say, he has no competition, and yet he still "only" got 51% of the vote in a record low turnout. And even then, his majorities only existed within white, non-college educated men over the age of 45.
