Maxine Puth 9,052 Posted January 12 Share Posted January 12 (edited) Chromatica is a great on paper album, a quick 6 month era designed to ride the ASIB hype and appeal to a broader range of dance music fans with digestible pop music. But in my opinion, no way was it built well enough (sonically or otherwise) to serve as her only solo pop album in a 7 year time frame (2017-2023), not to mention the completely butchered era that dreaded on and off for years (not Gaga’s fault… though I contemplate whether it would’ve been better to have ended that era in 2020 and toured it with new material in 2022 ala The Eras Tour). Yes, it feels like Chromatica was created based on commercial success, so that it would be popular, because by that time she needed it. In general, Gaga performed each song with such dedication, love and joy. Isn't this a sign that the album was a success? She was still touring the Monster Ball when she started dropping BTW singles. Nowadays, it’s undeniable that we’re experiencing clear pauses in-between projects, so I wouldn’t really see the point of reviving anything Chromatica related at this point.
